Divorce Me I'm Done Serving You (Ayla and Troy) novel Chapter 939

After they finished getting ready for bed, Troy brought Ayla to the bedroom.

She had just undergone surgery and was still weak. She had no energy left to argue with him. The divorce agreement had been torn up. The driver she had called had been sent away. There was no way for her to return to the house Hugh had given her tonight. For now, she could only stay with Troy.

In a sense, they were still legally husband and wife. Even if there seemed to be no love left between them.

Lying beside Ayla in the same bed felt like something from another lifetime. As Troy lay flat on his back, he realized his entire body was tense.

Only then did he understand just how distant they had been during their three years of marriage. Even sleeping in the same bed had been a rarity. Their marriage had been as bland and lifeless as plain water.

Looking back, he genuinely admired Ayla's persistence. How had she managed to hold on for three years?

At first, he hadn't understood. But on the day they finalized their divorce in his previous life, she had finally told him.

She said that when her mother died, she had fallen into despair and thrown herself into the sea. He had been the one who pulled her out. When she opened her eyes and saw him standing there, she felt as though she had seen a star. She told him he had become her star and her precious diamond. She had fallen in love with him at first sight.

Being loved so deeply by someone as wonderful as Ayla was a blessing in itself. Every time Troy thought about it in his previous life, he was reminded of just how wrong he'd been not to cherish her.

Now that fate had given him another chance, he would make up for everything. He would never let her leave again. For the rest of his life, he would give her all the love and attention he had never given in his previous life.

Though his body remained stiff at first, Troy gradually relaxed. Then he reached out and wrapped an arm around Ayla's waist, pulling her into his embrace. Burying his face against her shoulder, he breathed in her scent. It was a scent he had missed for so long. A scent he had dreamed about countless times. He couldn't get enough of it.

But he immediately felt her body go rigid.

Ayla was shaken. More than shaken. Part of her wanted to run away.

In three years of marriage, she had never experienced this kind of intimacy from him. The warmth of his embrace almost made her cry. It was so warm that it felt as though it might burn her broken heart.

Late at night, when everything was quiet, thoughts always became impossible to control. Memories drifted through her mind one after another.

Then she thought about the child she had just lost.

She had always wanted a child with Troy. Now that dream was gone forever. The pain felt like a wound that could never truly heal.

And yet, at this very moment, Troy was holding her so gently. If he had continued treating her the way he always had, with cold silence and endless distance, her heart would have hardened a little more. But tonight was different. Tonight, she suddenly felt wronged and hurt. All the pain she had been suppressing came rushing back.
