Lillian was ignoring him, and he was certain it was because his messy relationship with Bella hadn't been properly dealt with yet.
His greatest regret was rushing into signing those marriage papers with Bella.
He should have dragged his feet and delayed the wedding indefinitely. At the very least, he wouldn't be in this suffocating position, trapped in a corner of his own making.
Getting a divorce now meant he was at the mercy of others!
It was only now that Sebastian finally admitted his parents had possessed incredible foresight. Even without knowing the full extent of Lillian's hidden talents, their judgment of her character had been flawless.
They adored Lillian and despised Bella. And they were right—Bella wasn't worthy of a single hair on Lillian's head.
It was his own narrow-mindedness and lack of vision that had blinded him.
The thought of his upbringing inevitably led him to think of his biological mother, Debbie Harris.
Countless times, Sebastian had asked himself why he had to be born from a woman like her. What right did she have?
Even though he hadn't grown up sheltered within the Blake family's lavish walls, he had still managed to turn himself into a man of excellence.
And Debbie?
She was entirely useless, a degenerate gambler who did nothing but drag him down. Why did someone like her deserve a son as brilliant as him?
If he hadn't been raised by her, he would have been even more remarkable. His life and his future would have been infinitely smoother.
Just thinking about it made his blood boil.
The worst part was that his men had completely lost track of her.
Old Mr. Blake rarely reprimanded Sebastian this harshly, but tonight, he was furious.
Sebastian had grown into a bitter disappointment. Usually, the old man refrained from scolding him not out of affection, but out of sheer exhaustion—he simply didn't want to waste his breath.
But Sebastian's blatant disrespect was impossible to ignore.
Unfazed by the lecture, Sebastian retorted coldly, "Even if you have insomnia tonight, you can just sleep during the day. It's not like you have anything else to do. What difference does it make when you rest?"
Old Mr. Blake stared at him in utter disbelief. He turned to the butler, Arthur Pendergast. "Remember this. From now on, once we have gone to bed, do not let him in. What does he think this place is? How dare he speak to me like that! Does he think he's running the show now? That he's the master of this house?"
Arthur looked at Sebastian in silence. He had advised against letting him in, and just as predicted, it had infuriated the old master.
Yet Sebastian looked completely unapologetic, seemingly unaware of the gravity of his insolence.
