Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1198

Brandon's face drained of color as he finished speaking. When the moment of truth arrived, he still found the situation incredibly difficult to stomach.

The woman standing before them, Eleanor Lancaster, was completely unhinged. She was a madwoman, through and through. Yet he, the lofty executive of the Mercer Group—a man who had ascended to power at a remarkably young age—was now expected to grovel and beg for forgiveness in front of her. It was as if his pride was being trampled into the dirt and spat upon.

Sabrina Ward glanced at Martin. Since he hadn't backed down yet, she certainly wasn't going to lower herself first. Her pride wouldn't allow it.

Seeing his father standing frozen despite his warnings, Brandon grew impatient. He stepped up to Martin, nudging his arm and lowering his voice. "Dad, what are you doing? If you miss this chance, how do you expect to bring Lillian home? How will our family ever reunite? If you don't do this, and the woman beside you refuses to budge, we won't even make it to work on time. Think about the Mercer Group. Do you want the company to go bankrupt and be liquidated? Do you want a century of Mercer legacy destroyed in your hands?"

Brandon's words struck like a heavy blow, snapping Martin back to reality. He took a step back, closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and completely surrendered, bowing his head deeply in utter humiliation before Eleanor.

Sabrina's mind went blank. He actually did it?

Just then, Martin yanked Sabrina's arm, dragging her down with him. All the strength drained from Sabrina's body as she collapsed onto the lawn beside him. Being forced to submit on the hard ground was humiliating, and her joints ached from the harsh impact.

Taking full advantage of Sabrina being restrained, Lillian delivered several more heavy slaps, the sharp cracks echoing in the air until Martin finally pulled Sabrina into his arms to shield her.

Unable to reach her target, Lillian stopped, but her rage was far from extinguished.

"Sabrina, during the two years I was in prison, you were the one who went to St. Jude's Psychiatric Center to 'care' for my mother. Let me ask you—how exactly did you care for her? Before she went in, she lived with Grandma, who loved her like her own flesh and blood."
