Despite her sarcastic tone, Martha gave a subtle nod to one of the other maids.
The maid spoke quietly into her earpiece, checking in with the main villa.
A few minutes later, Ethan strolled into the room.
He took one look at Sabrina, who was still dramatically whimpering, and let out a sharp bark of laughter. "Alright, folks. Sorry for the delay. Business is concluded. You're free to go."
Brandon immediately stepped forward. "Mr. Hayes, what about Lillian? Why didn't she come down? Is she hurt?"
Sabrina shot Brandon a venomous glare. Shouldn't he be asking about her?
Lillian was the one who had savagely beaten her, yet Brandon was rushing to check if Lillian was okay?
Was there no justice in the world?
They were treating her like she wasn't even human! It was absolutely infuriating.
Ethan didn't even bother glancing in Sabrina's direction. "Relax. Ms. Mercer is perfectly fine.
Just a little minor swelling on her hands, but she's already applied some ointment and she's good as new.
She has plenty of people up there taking excellent care of her.
Now, it's time for all of you to leave."
Turning his sharp gaze to Martin, Ethan added, "Oh, and Mr. Mercer? Our boss wanted me to pass along a message. Today's little kneeling session? It doesn't count.
How about we officially start The Penance Performance from scratch tomorrow morning?"
Martin's face hardened into a cold mask. Forcing himself to kneel and apologize was already a bitter pill to swallow.
Eleanor's mental state was far worse than he had anticipated.
His anger was entirely directed at Sabrina's idiotic decision to relentlessly torture Eleanor at St. Jude's Psychiatric Center after having her locked away.
Truthfully, Martin couldn't care less about Eleanor's well-being.
Alive, dead, insane—it made no difference to him.
But Sabrina had been incredibly sloppy. She had bullied and beaten Eleanor, and worst of all, she had let Lillian find out. Her public breakdown today had humiliated the entire Mercer family.
Even if Martin had wanted to protect Sabrina, his hands were tied.
How could he defend her? He wasn't blind. She had taken a delicate situation and detonated it.
Brandon and Colin grabbed their phones and followed their father out.
Right before stepping through the door, Brandon looked back at Ethan. "Mr. Hayes, please tell Lillian that the formal apologies will continue tomorrow without fail."
