Bella slammed the steering wheel, her eyes going wide. "What? What the hell do you mean the brakes are gone?"
"I don't know!" the mercenary screamed over the radio. "They're just gone! We're losing control! Ms. Ward, we either ram the target vehicle right now to stop our momentum, or we veer off into the ditch and bail! If we bail, we are out of the op!"
Panic seized Bella. "You can't hit them yet! The cameras are still live! It's a dead giveaway! But if you bail, I lose half my crew! How am I supposed to breach the convoy without you?"
It was an absolute disaster. How could the tech fail right now?
The mercenary's voice rose to a terrified pitch. "Our speed is climbing! If you don't make a call in five seconds, we're all going to die! We signed up for a paycheck, not a suicide mission!"
Backed into a corner, Bella had no choice.
She couldn't risk the exposure.
"Fine! Abort! Ditch the car and get out of there!"
Bella hurled the radio onto the passenger seat with a scream of frustration.
Her luck was completely plummeting tonight. But with $1.2 billion on the line, there was no way she was aborting the entire mission.
She had to get her hands on Debbie. Period.
With her lead assault vehicle out of commission, her crew was down from ten men to six.
