Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 134

But after a full month of treatment, the improvement had been minimal. That really was unusual.

A dark glint flickered in Chris’s eyes behind his gold–rimmed glasses.

Skyla waited in the hospital bed for quite a while before she finally saw Chris walk in through the door.

The gloomy look on her face instantly brightened.

“Chris!” Skyla straightened up, her long hair falling beside her face, which only made her look even paler.

Then she noticed he wasn’t using his cane and complained softly, “You forgot what the doctor told you again. Gavin, go get his cane.”

Chris said calmly, “I don’t need it anymore.”

Back when the cast had been put on, it was only to keep him from moving around too much. He was in good shape and healed quickly. After the cast came off, using the cane for around ten days had already

been enough.

“Even so, you should be more careful. Don’t just stand there. Sit down.” She pointed to the spot beside

her.

From the moment he walked into the room, her eyes had never left his face. They hadn’t seen each other

in three days, and she had missed him so much her chest felt tight.

If only she could see him every day.

But even now, he still hadn’t asked her to move into Blackwood Manor.

Chris didn’t sit down. Instead, he handed her a bag with two boxes inside.

Skyla froze for a second. When she took it and looked inside, she saw two boxes of iron supplements.

Chris’s cool voice came from above her head. “When you get home, remember to take them on time. These two boxes, plus the two you still haven’t finished from before. Once you’re done with all of them, come back for another checkup. Your anemia should be gone by then.”

Skyla’s face turned even whiter than before. She clutched the boxes tightly and explained, “Chris, I just forgot to take them…”

“Whether you forgot or chose not to take them, you know the truth yourself.” Chris’s expression stayed indifferent.

Skyla’s heart trembled.

She had done it on purpose.

Everything he said sounded like concern for her health, so why did it leave her feeling so empty?

A few days earlier, the news department had received an anonymous tip. Someone claimed there was an illegal operation running inside the club, but they were too afraid of retaliation to go to the police.

As a social affairs reporter, Winter felt it was her responsibility to expose anything that threatened public safety.

Nocturne belonged to Dominic, but if there really was something illegal going on inside, she wasn’t about to let it slide. She would expose it first, then settle accounts with Dominic afterward.

But just moments earlier, Sam had somehow learned that Nocturne didn’t belong to Dominic alone.

Chris also held a major stake in it.

By the time night fell, neon lights had begun flickering on across the city.

Winter stepped through the club’s front doors.

Nocturne wasn’t the kind of place with a long list of rules. Anyone with enough money could walk right in.

After slipping the doorman a tip, Winter headed inside.
