Chapter 189
As Zac hit the floor, the last thing that flashed through his fading mind was Winter’s face.
She was in danger
That fear forced one last burst of strength out of him, even as he was slipping out of consciousness. He bit down hard on the tip of his tongue. The sharp pain and taste of blood snapped his senses back into place. Bracing both hands against the floor, he forced himself up.
A beam from the distant lighthouse swept through the window, casting a faint glow across the doorway.
The man standing there slowly came into view.
When he saw that Zac was still awake, his expression tightened. “Mr. Davis…”
Zac went still.
It was his father’s personal bodyguard.
Before the bodyguard could pull the white handkerchief from his pocket, Zac shoved himself to his feet. His body swayed, but in the next instant he lunged forward and grabbed the bodyguard’s wrist before he
could react.
For the first time, the gentle, easygoing Zac looked downright ruthless.
“Where is Winter?”
The bodyguard was stunned by how much strength Zac could still summon. When he saw the blood at the corner of Zac’s mouth, he finally understood how Zac had forced himself to stay conscious.
How important was that woman to him?

The color drained from Zac’s face.
So it really was Eugene.
That meant Eugene had used his connections at the station to arrange for Winter to be assigned to this cruise, all so he could make a move against her.
Zac shoved the bodyguard aside and stumbled out of the room.
At the far end of the hallway, Eugene was just stepping out of the elevator, several broad-shouldered bodyguards behind him.
The moment he saw the shape Zac was in, his expression darkened. “You foolish boy. Even now, you still refuse to come to your senses. She’s a married woman. Even if she gets divorced, everyone will still remember that she was once Chris Xander’s wife. One day, you’re going to inherit everything in the Davis family and become the head of this family. Are you really going to keep involving yourself with her and

Zac’s expression changed instantly.
Fabian Kane.
He had spent most of his life focused on medicine, but as the son of one of Liono City’s three most powerful families, he had naturally heard the name before.
But right now, he didn’t care how Winter had offended Fabian.
He just wanted to get her back.
He knew what kind of place the border was. He knew the kind of things Fabian Kane was involved in.
If Winter fell into his hands, what would happen to her would be more brutal than most people could even imagine.
Zac rushed to the window and looked out.
Behind the ship, the wake spread across the dark water in rolling waves. Not far away, a yacht was speeding off in another direction.
Night was falling, and in the rising mist, the yacht flickered in and out of sight.
