He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90

[Daisy’s POV)

I walked to class like my body knew the way and my brain had simply decided to stay behind.

Because once Aria said his name, everything else became background noise.

Adrian.

It was just a name; the name of someone she fancies. She had said it casually because it was a big deal at least not to me.

But why had it feel like the entire cafeteria had frozen for a second then?

I adjusted my bag on my shoulder and kept walking, my steps steady even though my thoughts weren’t.

He was at the field.

That part settled tangible.

He didn’t reply to my message because he had been there. Occupied.

It made sense, but it also meant that he had joined the training and he had played.

No. Not played. Dominated.

I slowed slightly without meaning to, my brows pulling together.

The thing that didn’t sit right wasn’t that he played. It was when he played and why.

Because the last time we talked about it, he had made it very clear that he wasn’t interested. Sports competitions, school activities, all of it- he had dismissed it like it didn’t deserve his time.

And then suddenly, he was there. On the field. Against Nathan.

My grip tightened slightly on the strap of my bag.

Nathan…

The scene with him flashed in my head without warning. The laughter. The comments. The way they had stood around me like I was an object they found weird and amusing.

And DeLuca had been there.

I inhaled slowly, my steps slowing just enough for the thought to slip in.

…could it be because of the incident that he…

I didn’t finish the thought as I shook my head and continued walking.

No.

That didn’t make sense.

Why would it be because of that?

He doesn’t care.

He wouldn’t care.

That’s not- he’s not that kind of person.

I adjusted my bag again, this time a little more forcefully, like I could physically push the thought away.

It was coincidence. Or he joined because of boredom. Or competition.

Yes.

That made more sense.

Still…

I was still uneasy.

The timing was… strange. Because if it wasn’t- No.

I exhaled sharply under my breath.

I’m not doing that.

I picked up my pace and walked into class.
