He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 198

As expected of a top-tier assistant, he knew exactly what Juniper cared about most with a single glance.

Juniper opened her eyes, frowning as she turned toward Nelson, who was resting his heavy head against the seat. "Change your clothes."

Nelson's eyes instantly lit up, and a faint, fragile smile curved his lips.

The luxury car had a spacious interior, complete with built-in storage compartments filled with clean clothes and fresh towels.

He stripped off his soaked clothes, tossed them into the laundry hamper mounted to the side panel, and began drying his hair with a fresh towel.

Perhaps afraid that Juniper would feel uncomfortable, he even used a second towel to wipe down the leather seats around him.

By the time he finished, he was incredibly dizzy. Acting entirely on instinct, he slumped toward her side of the car, only to be shoved away.

Nelson stubbornly rested his burning forehead against her shoulder. "I'm dizzy."

Even through the fabric of her coat, she could feel the blistering heat radiating off him.

Terrified he would start harassing her again if she pushed him, she groaned in frustration and squeezed her eyes shut.

Nelson leaned his weight fully against her. Once he realized she wasn't going to shove him away again, he let out a long breath of relief.

The rest of the journey was dead silent. Neither of them spoke a word.

It was past midnight when they finally reached Metropolis. Juniper handed the bucket directly to Nelson. "Eleanor said she wanted wild mushroom soup. Take this to her."

Because of his raging fever, the world was spinning before Nelson's eyes. He reached out to grab her hand, but she swiftly avoided his grasp.

"Nelson, I leave this to you."

With that, she turned and walked away.
