Alistair understood perfectly. The only reason the man was holding back his temper was out of consideration for Juniper.
He smiled but said nothing. There was no point in aggravating someone on edge.
He got into his car and drove away.
Nelson remained where he stood, letting out a few muffled coughs, not daring to make too much noise.
His phone buzzed. It was another call from the Saint family, telling him that Josie was looking for him.
He finally forced himself to move, got into his car, and drove back.

At the hospital.
Corbin Xavier didn't have a single intact bone in his body. He lay paralyzed in the hospital bed, completely immobile.
His mother sat beside him, crying so hard she could barely catch her breath.
"This is too much! They've gone too far!"
Caleb lowered his gaze. Seeing Corbin in such a miserable state made him quietly thankful that he hadn't picked the wrong side.
He didn't know who had egged on this idiot Corbin to target Juniper.
The rest of the Xavier family still didn't know this incident involved her, but Caleb knew. Nelson's men had called him, simply asking him to find out how Juniper ended up in Corbin's private room.
Even if Juniper had terrible taste, there was no way she would ever be interested in a worthless loser like Corbin.
Caleb had indeed investigated, but he came up completely empty-handed. The person pulling the strings was entirely untraceable.
However, he already knew it was Lydia Thorne. But he couldn't be the one to reveal this secret to Nelson. After all, nobody knew whether Nelson would ultimately choose Lydia or Juniper.
One was his legally wedded wife, and the other was the ex he couldn't let go of. Until he was certain of Nelson's choice, Caleb planned to play it safe and protect himself.
He had handed Corbin's phone over to Nelson's men. Whatever secrets Nelson could crack from it was entirely his own business.
