Sinclair POV

Last night was difficult, until it wasn’t. Adrian is great at putting me at ease. In a way, I’m glad Kaia and I teased with our mates. They followed up, and even though we fought off the casuals and ended Ricky, I was glad they were there to support us.

I have so many thoughts running through my head. First, why did the company turn on us? Second, how did Kaia’s father get out of prison? Third, why does Julian want me? Does he know that I am the one who hacked his system?

I started with Kaia’s father. I want to go back home to Blackstone today with Adrian. I am subconsciously rubbing my belly. I woke up this morning and realized my stomach has grown more. Our pups are getting bigger, and I’m getting excited with anticipation.

As I scroll with the mouse iin one hand and rub my stomach with the other, Adrian comes in and growls approvingly. I looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

“What?”

“You look beautiful caring for our pups, little sin,” as he knelt beside me and kissed me, then my belly.

I ran my fingers through his hair as I smiled. This is what no one else sees. He’s a gentle giant, in love with pups that aren’t even here yet.

When he looked back up at me, he asked me what I had found on Kaia’s father. He pulled up a chair and sat at an angle where his hand could rest on our pups while I worked.

“Someone paid to get him out. I’m still trying to track down the source,” I said.

“Don’t you find it weird that Julian is tied to everything? What if it came from Julian?”

I stopped. He’s right. Ronan, Candy, Paul, Heath, Black Enterprises, Diego, have all been tied to Julian in some way. Suddenly, a thought entered my head.

“What if Julian is attached to the company, too?”

Adrian raised an eyebrow. “It’s possible, but how is he funding all of this?”

“He has several offshore accounts. His businesses are exactly legit. It begs the question, however, how many tentacles does Julian have?”

“Tentacles?”

“Yeah, we are looking at this all wrong. We need to cut the source, force his hand,” I said.

“You mean cut off all his financial sources?”

“Yeah. In a criminal empire, which is clearly what this is, money is the only currency that matters. It’s essentially Julian’s heart. Without it, he bleeds.”

I shifted my investigation to hack into Julian’s database again. I created a shadow program that will let me stay incognito while going through his systems. I can’t deploy my program, as I need to install it physically, but I can get all the codes to every bank account and drain him dry.

Her face went serious. “Let me know when you drop the information to the police. I want to keep tabs on my bastard sperm donor.”

“Will do. Now, Adrian and I are going home. I am going to say goodbye to Aric and Poppy first.”

Adrian grabbed our bags as I packed up my laptop and equipment. I was getting ready to carry it down the stairs when Aric saw me and grabbed it.

“Look at my niece and nephew growing!” He said happily. “I’ll carry this down for you. Poppy is in the dining hall. She said she wanted some chilies and grape jam. I have no idea why she thinks that is appetizing.”

I laughed. “Pregnancy cravings,” I shrugged as we walked down the stairs.

Adrian came towards us and smirked as he grabbed the bag from Aric, and then I followed Aric to the dining hall to say goodbye to Poppy. In the corner, someone is sitting there, and he keeps staring at me. It makes me uncomfortable.

“I’m leaving now,” I said and looked at Aric. “Call me when Poppy goes into labor, and I’ll be here.”

“Will do.”

Adrian found me in the dining hall, and then he spotted the guy who was staring at me. He walked over and shook his hand. How does he know that guy? He came over with the mystery man by his side.

“Sinclair, this is Gene. When you were shot, he was the one who knocked Ronan out and got you to the hospital. He also donated blood to you.”
