His plump mate (Rebel and Austin) by Buchanan novel Chapter 632

Sinclair POV

“That’s right, I sent feelers out to find you, Sinclair. Gene was the one who got you to the hospital,” Kaia said happily.

I looked at Gene, and something felt off, but everyone around him seemed alright with him. I pushed down my uneasiness, though.

“Thank you for saving me and for the donation then,” I said, extending my hand to shake his.

He smirked and shook my hand. “No problem. I’m glad I got there in time. I’m also glad to see your pups are going strong,” he replied, while pointing at my pup bump.

“Mean, Gene, on the scene!” Kaia said, and it made me chuckle.

Gene smiled slightly, but it didn’t reach his eyes. I’m not sure what is going on, but I’m uncomfortable about this. I shook it off and then grabbed Adrian’s hand.

“Right, well, thank you again. Adrian, we should get going.”

I pushed caution into our mate bond, and he squeezed my hand. “Right, we need to get going. I’m sure we will be back soon.”

I hugged everyone, and Adrian and I left. Once we were out of the pack, Adrian asked me. “What was that about?”

“Something feels strange with Gene. I don’t know what, but before you approached him, he was staring at me intently. It was almost like he was studying me. Then when he smiled, it didn’t reach his eyes, Adrian. It made me feel…unsettled.”

Adrian’s face showed concern. I’m sure he didn’t notice, but I did, and we have too much going on right now for any slip-ups. He sighed.

“He saved you,” Adrian said. “He has never acted like a threat, either.”

I sat back and closed my eyes. “I know that it seems like I might be on high alert, but something doesn’t feel right.”

Adrian brought my hand to his mouth and kissed it. “I will call Isaiah when we get home. I will tell him your impressions, okay?”

“Thank you,” I said, smiling gently.

When we finally get to Blackstone, I am hungry. I’m having a serious craving for mashed potatoes, with melted peanut butter, and raw onions and green peppers, with a side of sardines.

As soon as we got out of the car and we greeted Aiden and Thalia, I told them, and Aiden started fist-pumping in the air.

“YES! You are now part of the gross cravings club, brother!”

Thalia is laughing, but all I know is I’m hungry. Adrian looks a little green. Once again, I know it’s with envy.

“Let’s get you that craving cure, and then we can go to Aiden’s office to talk,” Thalia said.

“Okay. How was everything after you got back with Aiden?” I asked.

I chuckled. “Be serious.”

He wrapped his arm around me and showed me. “These are some bank statements that are tied to Heath. Aiden was asking me to do a once-over.”

That got my attention. “A once over for what?”

“He feels like there is something there, but he has looked through it so many times that he can’t look at it clearly now.”

I looked at the transactions, and something started glaring at me. “These transfers from Heath’s account to these accounts. There is something there. May I?”

“Aren’t you tired?”

“Wide awake now,” I said, sitting up straight.

I’m looking at the accounts the money is getting transferred to, and it pops out at me. “I have Julian’s account numbers!” I said excitedly.

“You do?”

“Best way to hide something is to do it in plain sight, and it doesn’t get any plainer than this!”
