The piercing, icy voice drifted down from above her. Gillian looked up, meeting his dark, freezing gaze.

It was a look she knew all too well; York only ever looked at her like that, and right now, it was laced with impatience.

He always prioritized Hailey's feelings above everything else.

Gillian took a deep breath, suppressing the heavy emotions in her chest, and forced a smile. "Since when do mistresses have the right to get jealous these days?"

York frowned, clearly triggered by the word 'mistress'. "Gillian, she's a good girl. Don't insult her."

Gillian's fingers curled slightly, ready to fire back.

"Why are you all standing in the doorway?"

Director Thomas from HR walked over holding a briefcase, interrupting them.

Director Thomas smiled and said, "Everyone go inside. I have an announcement to make."

As soon as they entered the office, Director Thomas cut straight to the chase.

"I'm sure everyone has heard the news by now. The roster for our hospital's advanced fellowship program is out, and we have a newcomer. Please do your best to show her the ropes." Director Thomas motioned to Hailey. "Dr. Sinclair, please introduce yourself to everyone."

Hailey was young and very bashful, her voice timid. "My name is Hailey Sinclair. I'm a senior at Metropolis Medical College. I hope we can all get along."

The moment the introduction finished, the doctors in the office were instantly in an uproar.

The fellowship program was a rare opportunity that led to senior promotions and academic credits. It required recommendations from the hospital and employers, and a minimum of three to five years of clinical experience.
