I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 33

Bonnie pressed her lips together, lowering her head in self-reproach.

Jasper pulled a thick stack of files from his briefcase and handed them to her.

"Also, this is Mr. Vance's medical file. Take it."

Bonnie froze, staring at the stack of documents in utter disbelief.

"For me?"

She had previously tried everything to find out about Quentin's condition, but Jasper had guarded the information like a fortress, refusing to reveal a single word.

And now, he was handing over such a highly confidential medical file straight to her.

"Since Mr. Vance decided to keep you around, it means your specialized meals are actually working. From now on, use this file to continue treating his condition."

Jasper stood up and sighed. "But Ms. Hayes, I suggest you don't get any wild ideas. You cannot afford to cross Mr. Vance's bottom line."

After leaving her with those warnings, Jasper turned and left the apartment.

Bonnie clutched the thick medical file and walked over to the dining table.

The meal she had left out remained untouched, entirely cold by now.

The black card and the note she had written were still sitting quietly next to the plates.

Bonnie's cheeks flushed. She quickly crumpled the sticky note and threw it in the trash, then safely pocketed the black card.

Taking a deep breath, she opened the file.

Just skimming the first few pages caused her heart to skip a beat.

The medical records were shockingly detailed.

At the age of eight, Quentin Vance was blinded in a tragic accident.

It wasn't until he was twelve that he barely regained his sight through an incredibly high-risk surgery.

But the trauma from that accident ran too deep, leaving him with severe psychological scars and bouts of intermittent blindness.

Now thirty years old, he had traveled to thirty-five different countries over the past decade or so.

He had undergone countless surgeries and tried the most advanced medical treatments available in the world, yet nothing had permanently cured him.

Bonnie's brows knitted tightly together.

So his so-called "intermittent blindness" wasn't a simple physiological issue. It was accompanied by psychological torment beyond what any normal person could imagine.

No wonder his temper was so volatile. No wonder he was always so guarded against everyone.
