The heat still hadn't completely faded from Bonnie's face. The moment she looked at him, the vivid image of those sculpted abs flashed uninvited into her mind.
She mentally cursed herself, quickly lowering her head as she offered up the two herbal pouches with both hands.
"Mr. Vance, these are the Wellness Satchels I made for you."
"The black one is the Nightfall Satchel. It's filled with a blend of calming botanicals like roasted jujube seeds, milkwort, and agarwood. Keep it by your pillow at night—it will help you get a much deeper sleep."
"The green one is the Daybreak Satchel. I used peppermint, eucalyptus, and a few specific herbs to clear the senses. Keep it on your desk; it will help you gradually curb your coffee cravings."
"With your current physical condition, caffeine is overstimulating your nervous system. You have to cut it out. The aromatic properties of this satchel will act as a natural substitute."
She delivered the explanation in one breathless rush, her voice crisp and laced with a doctor's earnest professionalism.
Quentin lowered his gaze to the small objects resting in her pale palms.
He reached out to take them, his fingertips casually brushing against her skin, sending a sudden jolt of electricity through her.
Bonnie hastily pulled her hand back, wiping her palm against her shirt.
Quentin brought the satchels to his nose, taking a brief sniff before raising a brow.
"Bonnie."
He suddenly spoke, his voice freezing cold and completely devoid of warmth.
"Don't waste your energy trying these pointless little tricks on me. We are in a contract marriage. Don't expect a couple of herbal bags to buy you anything more."
Bonnie blinked in shock, quickly waving her hands to clarify.
"Mr. Vance, you've completely misunderstood. I don't have an ulterior motive."
"I just... I wanted to ask for a day off. I'd like to visit the countryside this weekend."
Afraid he might shoot her down, she hurriedly added, "Don't worry, you don't need a massage every single day. Taking a day off in between actually maximizes the benefits. The same goes for the specialized diet—your body needs a break to properly absorb the nutrients, so skipping a day is perfectly fine."
"As for your regular meals, you can just have your usual private chef come in. Jasper mentioned you had one before I moved in."
"When I get back, I'll just swap shifts with the chef. It absolutely won't interfere with your recovery plan."
She spilled out all her reasons in one go, her large, bright eyes practically shining with hopeful desperation.
Clutching the satchels, Quentin stared at her face for several long seconds, his lips pressing into a thin, tight line.
"I'll consider it."
Dropping those three words, he turned and walked back into his bedroom with the pouches.
Bonnie patted her chest, letting out a quiet sigh of relief before retreating to her own room.
Inside the master suite, Quentin tossed the two satchels onto his desk.
