I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 49

Quentin's footsteps faltered, and he turned to look at her.

"The landscaping down there is gorgeous, and the air is super fresh."

Bonnie gestured toward the window. "Besides, your eyes need to focus on distant objects to help with the recovery. Staying cooped up inside isn't good for you."

Seeing the man press his lips together in silence, she nervously grabbed the hem of her shirt. "If you're not into it, we don't have to."

"I'll go change."

Dropping the words, Quentin turned and headed into the bedroom.

Bonnie's eyes lit up. She moved at lightning speed, clearing the table and loading the dishwasher.

She sprinted back to her room, quickly throwing on a simple white t-shirt and a pair of fitted jeans.

By the time she emerged, Quentin had already changed into a sleek set of black athletic wear.

Standing side-by-side—one in stark white, the other in deep black—they looked strangely perfect together.

They stepped into the elevator in silence.

It descended one floor before sliding open.

An elderly woman stepped in, cradling a fluffy white Bichon Frise in her arms.

The moment Mrs. Gable entered, her eyes darted between the two of them.

"Oh, you must be the newlyweds who just moved in! I don't think I've seen you around before," she said with a warm, wrinkly smile.

Quentin stood toward the back, not even bothering to lift his gaze. He radiated a freezing, unapproachable aura.

Terrified that the neighbor would sense something off, Bonnie instinctively hooked her arm through Quentin's.

The weather had been warming up, and both of them were in short sleeves.

As she linked her arm through his, her warm, soft skin pressed directly against the hard, sculpted muscle of his bicep without any fabric between them.

Quentin's entire body instantly went rigid.

His brow furrowed sharply as he looked down at her.

But Bonnie had already tilted her head up, flashing Mrs. Gable a bright, radiant smile.

"Yes, ma'am! We're up on the third floor. We just moved in recently."

"Are you taking this little guy out for a walk? He is so adorable! What's his name?"
