I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 319

But Nora had long since moved past caring about society's judgment. They could say whatever they wanted; she was in control of her own life and certainly wasn't going to change her path just because of some petty gossip.

Seeing two incredibly powerful men leap to Nora's defense, Victoria rolled her eyes. "Some people just know how to string men along. I suppose that's a talent the rest of us simply lack."

Nora hadn't cared when her aunt mocked her for being a housewife, but accusing her of sleeping around was crossing a hard line. Her expression instantly froze, and she let out a sharp, chilling laugh.

"I have to say, I'm a bit curious. I live a quiet life, and I happen to have people who defend me. Why does that bother you so much, Victoria? You're going out of your way to invent disgusting rumors just to humiliate me. Let's be honest—you're just insanely jealous that I actually have people who care about me, while you don't. So you rely on malicious assumptions and vicious insults to make yourself feel better."

Victoria's face flushed a violent, humiliating red. She slammed her hand down on the table, the force rattling the water glasses.

"What nonsense are you spewing! Who would ever want to act like a shameless tramp bouncing between men like you!"

Nora's eyes turned lethal. "If you're going to make accusations, you'd better have evidence. Spouting baseless lies like that is defamation. That's not you being 'straightforward,' Victoria. That's you being toxic."

"My conscience is entirely clear. Unlike you, whose mind is clearly rotting with filth, constantly trying to drag others down just to soothe your own raging insecurities."

Victoria looked like she was about to have a stroke. She never imagined that Nora, a widow who had been cut off for years, would dare to speak to her with such vicious eloquence.

Seeing his mother completely humiliated, Dominic's face darkened. "Nora! Victoria is your family, you're being incredibly disrespectful! She was just giving you some advice as an elder. Are you really that incapable of taking constructive criticism?"

Nora let out a mocking laugh, finding the audacity absolutely hysterical. "You two throw out baseless, disgusting accusations with zero proof, and the second I shut you down, you try to use the 'respect your elders' card? It's pathetic. Instead of obsessing over how to slander me, Victoria should seriously learn to watch her mouth. Otherwise, she'll run it to the wrong person, get slapped with a massive lawsuit, and make an absolute joke of herself."
