“The Wright family’s problems were never yours to deal with in the first place. Whether they’re good people or bad, whether they live or die, none of it should be your responsibility.”
After everything Evan had done, Ivy could not bring herself to sympathize with the Wright family at all.
Perhaps Yara was a good person.
But what did that have to do with Stella?
Was Stella supposed to throw herself into an even more dangerous mess for Yara’s sake?
A dangerous mess.
Yes, that was exactly what awaited her.
Stella could sense that something was waiting for her if she returned to Eirden.
Ivy felt the same way.
Aaron had publicly announced that he was going to marry Yara.
And now this had happened.
Ivy did not believe for a second that there was nothing more behind it.
If even Ivy could see the danger, Evan certainly could too.
If he still insisted on trading Stella for Yara despite knowing that, then Ivy truly would not know what to say about him.
“There’s no need,” Stella said.
“If you’re taken back to Eirden, escaping won’t be so easy,” Ivy warned. “You’ve already gotten away twice.”
If Stella intended to run, now was her best chance.
“I am going to leave,” Stella said. “But I won’t involve you.”
She could still distinguish right from wrong.
She was grateful that Ivy wanted to help, especially when they had only known each other for such a short time.
But Stella would not drag Ivy into the consequences of her escape.
“I’m not afraid,” Ivy insisted.
“Thank you, but I already have a plan.”
Ivy might not be afraid, but Stella did not want to endanger anyone else, especially someone who had tried to help her.
Remi and Seymour were still unconscious from their injuries.
“Stella…”
“Don’t worry.”
