Evan fell silent.
At this point, he no longer knew what to say.
All he knew was that the entire situation had become a nightmare.
Yara’s condition kept replaying in his mind.
When Evan still said nothing, Amos asked, “You really want to trade Stella for her? There has to be another way.”
“Yara probably doesn’t have time.”
Aaron was clearly determined to force Stella back to Eirden.
The situation had become far too complicated.
Amos stared at him.
No time.
Wait.
If Evan was saying that, then did it mean he had truly…
“You’ve already made your decision?”
He had decided to exchange Stella for Yara.
All at once, Amos began to understand why Stella had lost control so completely back in Harbor City.
She really had gone mad then.
But how could she not have?
“Stella is a person,” Amos said. “Shouldn’t you at least ask what she wants?”
“Aaron won’t kill her.”
Yara was different.
From the way Aaron was acting, it seemed that if Stella did not return, he really might let Yara die.
“Then what was the point of everything you did for Stella before?” Amos demanded.
Evan had nearly given his life during the operation against Litt.
“You need to understand that once you make this trade, you and Stella are finished for good.”
This was not an exaggeration.
Even risking his life over Litt had not been enough to reopen Stella’s heart.
If Evan went through with this exchange, every effort he had made would be crushed beyond repair.
Evan took a long drag from his cigarette without answering.
Seeing him like this, Amos finally snapped.
“You’re no better than Aaron.”
Disappointment filled his voice.
There was even a trace of contempt.
This was the kind of behavior Amos despised most.
“You take her there,” Evan said.
“What?”
