Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 1099

Honestly, living with someone like Evan would be suffocating.

It was perfectly understandable that Stella had wanted to escape him.

Evan closed his eyes.

“She should be with me.”

His voice was filled with pain.

Then he added quietly, “I should at least have something of her left with me, shouldn’t I?”

Amos fell silent.

Something of her.

When Evan put it that way, Amos suddenly did not know what to say.

Maybe he was right.

Right now, Evan simply needed something to hold on to.

“But Felix needs that too.”

That was something Amos had to admit.

Felix had abandoned everything and taken what remained of Stella with him because he needed something to hold on to as well.

And if Felix was just as unwilling to let Stella go, there was no chance Evan could simply take her back.

“What right does he have?” Evan snapped. “He’s nothing to her!”

Amos stared at him.

Well.

If that was how Evan wanted to argue it, then there really was nothing left to say.

None of them had the right.

None of them were anything to Stella anymore.

Evan might still have a marriage certificate tying him to her, but what did that really mean?

In Stella’s heart, he had stopped being her husband a long time ago.

No matter what Amos said, Evan became obsessed with finding Stella and bringing her back.

And news that he had sent people to track down Felix reached Aaron first.

A dark cloud had hung over the Hogarth family ever since Stella’s death.

Aaron had not been able to shake the grief either.

Again and again, he found himself thinking that if he could do everything over, he would never burden Stella with the responsibilities of the Hogarth family.

He would simply let her be their cherished daughter.

She could do whatever she wanted.
