Chapter 821

Then I won’t let her hate Ms. Tanner any more than she already does.”

Leon said nothing.

His mother already hated Jennifer as much as she possibly could.

What difference would a little more make?

Leon did not care about that at all.

Just as they were about to continue, Leon’s mother arrived after somehow hearing what had happened.

The elegant, impeccably dressed woman walked straight up to Leon and slapped him.

“You little brat. What kind of barbaric woman did you find? How dare she hurt Monique!”

“Mom, you…”

“Don’t call me Mom. If you don’t break up with that woman, then I’ll treat it like I’ve never given birth to you.

Mrs. Redson, Vivian Redson, glared at him.

She had never liked Jennifer.

Now she disliked her even more.

Jennifer had injured someone with a knife-on the face, of all places.

“With a temper like that, what do you even see in her? Is something wrong with you?”

The more Vivian spoke, the angrier she became.

Then she looked at the injury on Monique’s face, her heart aching.

“How am I supposed to explain this to her parents?”

She had been the one who sent Monique there.

And Monique had come back hurt.

Vivian had wanted Monique’s presence to put Jennifer in her place.

Instead, things had ended like this.

“Vivian, please don’t blame Ms. Tanner,” Monique said softly. “I accidentally ran into the knife myself.”

She was not lying.

But neither Vivian nor Leon believed her.

They both thought she was trying to protect Jennifer.

“How did Jennifer even have a knife in her hand?” Vivian demanded.

Monique hesitated.

“This…”

She looked troubled, as though she could not find a convincing excuse for Jennifer.

Then she glanced helplessly at Leon.

“No matter what, Jennifer has to give Monique an explanation.

“Either you give one, or Jennifer does.”

Vivian’s attitude was firm.

She made it clear she would not let the matter go unless Jennifer paid some kind of price.

Leon felt his temper rising.

An explanation.

“Vivian, I really…”

“She hurt someone. Should I call the police?”

Monique fell silent.

Leon did too.

At the mention of calling the police, Leon turned back to Vivian.

His lips pressed into a hard line, coldness gathering in his eyes.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Vivian demanded. “Am I not allowed to?”

“Would you rather I go to jail in her place?”

Vivian’s expression changed.

“You…”
