Right now, Aaron wanted nothing more than to punish her like a disobedient child.
But when he thought about how badly their relationship had deteriorated, his anger only intensified.
At this point, punishing her was no longer the real issue.
The question was how to get her back.
Gray hesitated.
“We have no idea where Miss Rowan is. She isn’t in Seaborne.”
Aaron fell silent.
The fact that they still could not find her made him even more furious.
In all his years, his people had never struggled this much with an assignment.
Whenever he wanted information or someone brought before him, he usually got results immediately.
Yet when it came to his own sister, they were completely helpless.
Was she really that clever, or was there something else going on?
Aaron closed his eyes in frustration.
“Evan must have arranged everything for her before he died,” Gray said.
Gray knew Stella was intelligent.
But Evan’s actions were much harder to understand.
It did seem as though he had arranged all of this. After all, Amos had continued protecting Stella on his behalf.
Still, Evan’s attitude toward her remained baffling.
When their marriage had fallen apart in Harbor City, he had seemed desperate to be rid of her.
Yet before his supposed death, he had made sure she would have somewhere safe to go.
“She certainly trusts Evan now,” Aaron said bitterly.
Gray decided not to respond.
Stella did appear to trust Evan now.
After all, she was working with Amos against the Hogarth family.
“Remi and Seymour are protecting Miss Rowan,” Leah said. “Finding her won’t be easy.”
Remi and Seymour had once been Amos’s most capable people.
After Evan returned to Seaborne, they had begun working directly under him.
