My CEO HUSBAND sign the divorce novel Chapter 265

Chapter 265: Visit to the mansion

Alexander’s POV

I was inspecting a section of the farmland when my eyes landed on Alicia once again.

President Evan was standing beside her.

The two of them were looking through a file she held in her hands. Alicia was explaining something while Evan listened attentively, his expression softer than usual. It was a look I had come to realize he reserved only for her.

My jaw clenched instinctively.

He was standing too close.

Alicia seemed completely focused on her work and probably hadn’t even noticed the lack of distance between them.

The intensity of my stare must have been too obvious because Evan suddenly looked up. Our gazes met briefly, and a flash of confusion crossed his face before he turned his attention back to Alicia.

"Are you alright, Chairman?" Karen asked from beside me.

I nodded after a moment.

Fortunately, she didn’t press further.

I forced myself to look away and focus on the crops again, but it was useless. My eyes kept drifting back to Alicia.

I was already holding myself back through sheer willpower.

Ever since finding her, I had tried every possible way not to make her uncomfortable. But it was becoming harder and harder.

This was my wife.

And I couldn’t even speak to her properly.

I had to pretend not to know her.

All because of fear.

Fear that I would scare her away.

Fear that one wrong move would make her take our daughter and disappear from my life again before I got the answers I needed.

Just the thought of Alicia leaving once more made my chest tighten painfully.

By the end of the day, I couldn’t concentrate anymore.

My eyes kept finding her.

Kept finding the way another man stood beside her, listened to her, cared for her.

And the worst part was that I had to endure it all quietly.

The inspection eventually came to an end, and everyone began heading toward their vehicles.

Herbert walked over to me with Alicia following closely behind him.

"Chairman Blackwood, I hope you’ve seen everything you needed to see," Herbert said with a warm smile.

I nodded.

"Just as I said, with the proper procedures and the substances Blackwood Dominion will provide, the pest issue won’t be a problem anymore. All that’s left now is signing the agreement."

Herbert’s smile widened.

"Of course, Chairman Blackwood."

When I first arrived in Rosewood Town, I couldn’t wait to finish the project and return to Velaridge City. I had planned to bury myself in work and put all unnecessary distractions behind me.

Now, everything had changed.

After finally finding the source of my sleepless nights and constant torment, the thought of leaving felt unbearable.

How was I supposed to leave without my wife and daughter after searching for them for so long?

Yet at the same time, I knew I couldn’t force them to come with me.

My own daughter stood in front of me twice without knowing who I was.

How was I supposed to convince either of them to trust me enough to follow me home?

"Chairman Blackwood, did you hear what I said?"

Herbert’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I blinked.

"Sorry. What were you saying?"

He chuckled lightly.

"I was asking if you’d like to come over to our mansion so we can discuss a few things and also join us for dinner tonight."

Visit his mansion.

And have dinner,

With his family.

I froze for a moment.

Then I looked up.

My gaze met Alicia’s.

She had gone completely still.

The reaction sent a dull ache through my chest.

From time to time, Herbert spoke about the partnership, but my attention rarely stayed on the conversation for long.

More than once, I found myself glancing at the rearview mirror.

Every now and then, Alicia would look up.

Our eyes would meet.

And every single time, she would be the first to look away.

A faint smile tugged at my lips.

At least I wasn’t the only one affected.

Some minutes later, we arrived at the mansion.

The wrought-iron gates slowly swung open, revealing a sprawling estate beyond. A long stone driveway curved through neatly trimmed gardens bursting with colorful flowers before leading to the main building.

The mansion itself stood proudly beneath the golden evening sky. Its cream-colored walls and tall glass windows reflected the fading sunlight, giving the entire place a warm glow. Elegant balconies overlooked the grounds, while a fountain sat at the center of the courtyard, its gentle sound carrying through the air.

It wasn’t as grand as the mansions in Velaridge City, but it possessed a warmth that many luxurious homes lacked.

And I could already feel that the moment I stepped inside.

The interior was spacious yet welcoming. Warm lighting illuminated the elegant décor, while family photographs displayed on the walls added a sense of life to the house. The scent of freshly prepared food lingered in the air, making the mansion feel less like a luxurious estate and more like a home.

It reminded me of the Blackwood Mansion.

Ours was much larger, but Nana had always preferred modest decorations over extravagant displays. Looking around, I could almost imagine her approving of this place.

"Come in, Chairman Blackwood."

Herbert led me further inside.

The mansion was quiet, with only a few staff members moving about. They greeted us respectfully as we passed before entering the living room.

The room was spacious, furnished with neatly arranged couches and decorated in the same warm style as the rest of the house.

"Please, have a seat."

Herbert gestured toward one of the couches while taking the one opposite.

"Thank you."

I sat down as he continued speaking.

"Please feel at home."

The couch faced the entrance, giving me a clear view of anyone entering the mansion.

At that moment, Alicia walked in....
