Scarlett shot him a playful glare, pouting, "It's all your fault."
Instead of taking offense at her blame, Damian curled his lips into a warm smile.
His eyes crinkled pleasantly, glistening with pure affection, patience, and tenderness.
Looking into those warm eyes, Scarlett felt herself melting inside.
Breaking the gaze, Scarlett said hurriedly, "Damian, head out—I need to get ready."
Damian pouted playfully, "I can stay and help you out."
Scarlett knit her brows, "Help me with what?"
Pausing a beat, Damian smirked teasingly, "Help you get dressed."
He dragged out his words with a mischievous smirk that sent a flutter of panic through Scarlett's chest.
She had every reason to doubt his pure intentions.
Shaking her head firmly, she turned him down, "No way! Violet's coming up to do my makeup—out you go!"
She gave Damian a gentle push as she spoke.
Grabbing her hands back, Damian tried to negotiate another minute to stay.
Just then, a soft knock echoed at the door, "Knock, knock, knock..."
Violet's voice called out from the hallway, "Scarlett, Mr. Langley, are you two awake?"
Hearing Violet outside, Scarlett called out quickly, "We're awake!"
Seeing her open her mouth, Damian instinctively moved to cover her lips.
Unluckily for him, Scarlett was a second too fast and the words flew out.
Defeated, Damian gave her a puppy-dog look, whispering, "You really don't want me around?"
Scarlett looked up with a bright smile, "Go grab a cup of coffee downstairs and turn on the TV—I'll be done before you know it."
Relentless, Damian gave in helplessly, "Fine."
Outside, hearing Scarlett answer, Violet asked softly, "Can I step in now?"
Spotting Damian fully dressed, Scarlett replied, "Come in, Violet."
Hearing her, Damian scrambled off the bed, standing by the nightstand as if they hadn't shared the sheets all night.
When Violet pushed the door open, she saw Damian standing awkwardly nearby while Scarlett sat propped up on the mattress.
Turning toward the door, Damian greeted politely, "Morning, Violet."
