Watching Damian's restless antics, Nathan couldn't help letting out a soft chuckle.
Hearing the laugh, Damian snapped back, straightening up and forcing his eyes away from the stairs, "Nathan, wanna play a game of chess over coffee?"
Glancing at Damian's fidgety, distracted look, Nathan declined, "Let me pass today; your mind's clearly elsewhere."
Scratching his hair, Damian offered an embarrassed chuckle before asking cautiously, "Nathan, do I really look that desperate to see her?"
Without a moment's hesitation, Nathan nodded firmly, "Yes."
Damian let out a self-deprecating laugh.
Then, Nathan turned serious, advising him, "Treating her right is great, but don't spoil her rotten."
Damian's expression turned dead serious as well, "Nathan, she's the only woman for me; if I don't spoil her, I'm terrified she'll leave me."
Hearing his raw admission, Nathan found himself speechless.
Damian stood as one of Rivergate's most powerful moguls, capable of having any woman he wanted.
Yet he laid his heart bare like this before Nathan.
It was clear his love for Scarlett ran far deeper than anyone could imagine.
Realizing he couldn't change Damian's mind, Nathan stood up, "Enjoy the coffee; I gotta head to the office."
Rising immediately, Damian offered, "Let me walk you out, Nathan."
Nathan waved it off, "No need, sit tight."
Damian insisted anyway, "It's no trouble at all, come on."
Seeing his persistence, Nathan didn't argue further.
After walking Nathan out, the two chatted briefly at the front gate.
Returning inside, Damian sat back at the counter alone, resorting to counting the trees in the garden.
He counted on and on until he had tallied every single object around Theron Manor, when commotion finally echoed from upstairs.
