Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 133

"Stop him!" Mavis shrieked.

The security guards swarmed forward, attempting to drag Milo away.

"I am a member of the Miller family, how dare you!" Milo's eyes went wide with fury as he tried to intimidate the enforcers with his status.

The guards exchanged hesitant glances. After all, he was a Miller; if they actually hurt him, they would be the ones to face the consequences.

"What are you standing around for? Do it!" Mavis ordered coldly. "If anything happens, I'll take the blame."

With that assurance, the guards gained confidence, grabbing Milo's arms to forcefully haul him off.

Just then, a slender figure rushed forward, viciously slamming into one of the guards.

"I am still a Miller. Just try touching my cousin."

"Meredith?"

Milo stared in surprise at Meredith, who was shielding him. He hadn't expected his usually delicate cousin to step up at a crucial moment like this.

"Milo, for Grandpa's sake, nothing else matters," Meredith said, her gaze resolute.

"Right." Milo nodded heavily. The two cousins stood shoulder to shoulder, facing off against the guards.

Mavis's face turned incredibly ugly. Milo was already a headache, and now Meredith had joined in. If a physical fight broke out and alerted the elders, things would get messy.

Her eyes darted around before she suddenly raised her voice. "Marcus. Meredith is here."

That shout acted like a signal.

The ward door opened, and Marcus walked out with a dark expression.

He stared at Meredith with sinister eyes and scoffed. "I hadn't even gone looking for you, yet you delivered yourself to my door."

"Marcus, the Azure Healer already said that Grandpa doesn't need a kidney transplant." Meredith looked straight into those calculating eyes. "Why are you so obsessed with taking my kidney? What are you really plotting?"

"What could I possibly be plotting? It's naturally so Grandpa can live a long life," Marcus maintained a calm demeanor, even showing a hint of disdain. "So what if that so-called healer said no transplant is needed? Do you actually believe the words of a shady, fame-seeking hack? Grandpa's health is precious, and I absolutely will not allow him to be tainted by some street swindler."

"What the..."

Nearby, Cyrus was ready to roll up his sleeves and throw hands right then and there.

Phoenix quickly stopped him, teasing in a low voice. "What's the rush? Isn't there... a ready-made Azure Healer right here?"

Cyrus paused, following her gaze to the old man Julian was treating as an honored guest.

He saw that the old man had already stepped forward, hands clasped behind his back, glaring coldly at Marcus with the posture of an otherworldly master.

"Marcus, are you questioning my medical skills?" the old man spoke with arrogant aloofness. "I have practiced for years and saved countless lives. I have never been so insulted. If you don't give me an explanation today, the news of the Miller family slandering the Azure Healer will spread far and wide."

"You can weigh the consequences yourself."

Phoenix sized the newcomer up, secretly comparing him to Warren. She had to admit, this man truly possessed the ruthlessness and presence of a family head.

Thaddeus scanned the room with a predatory gaze, eventually lingering on Meredith for a moment.

Then, he looked at Marcus, his tone leaving no room for argument. "The Azure Healer is incredibly hard to find. Since Julian brought him here, let him try."

"Dad, you absolutely can't." Marcus grew frantic. "The doctor said Grandpa's condition strictly requires a kidney transplant. Any other treatment will only accelerate his deterioration."

Thaddeus sneered, shifting his gaze to the fake old man with profound implication. "Therefore, the Azure Healer wouldn't joke around with his own reputation, right? You can absolutely guarantee that his condition won't worsen, correct?"

The old man's eyes darted nervously for a split second, but under Thaddeus's oppressive glare, he could only bite the bullet and put up a front. "Indeed. I... have absolute confidence."

Interesting.

The real Cyrus wasn't in a hurry to expose him anymore. He wanted to see exactly where this Charlatan was getting his confidence.

Phoenix also watched the scene with great interest. The old man's momentary panic hadn't escaped her eyes, but he had recovered far too quickly, which was highly unusual.

Also...

Phoenix turned her head to look at Meredith beside her.

Facing the father who had inflicted years of psychological trauma upon her, Meredith did not flinch or tremble.

She was staring dead at Thaddeus, the fear in her eyes entirely replaced by fierce resolve.
