Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 166

The security guards' faces darkened, and their gazes grew sharp, even carrying a hint of hostility. "If you don't have an invitation, please leave immediately. Don't make this difficult for us."

"I told you, once Ms. Prescott gets here, we'll have it!" Felix panicked, sweat beading on his forehead.

But Phoenix was nowhere to be seen, and Julian and Phoebe were pressing hard, clearly unwilling to give up until they were driven away.

"What is this racket at the entrance? Have you no sense of decency?"

An old, authoritative voice rang out, accompanied by the dull thud of a walking stick striking the ground.

Julian and Phoebe immediately turned around, putting on obedient faces to greet Alistair Prescott, who was walking over with his cane. Beside him was Dominic Vaughan; the two men had clearly just been catching up as they approached.

Seeing his grandchildren blocking the entrance in a standoff, Alistair's expression turned ugly.

"Alistair, these two are Phoenix's people." Phoebe spoke first, wearing a perfectly timed look of worry. "Phoenix clearly doesn't have a spot, but she deliberately sent them here to stand guard. I don't know what her intentions are... Could it be that she's angry about not getting an invite, so she..."

She didn't finish the sentence, but the implication was clear: she was throwing shade, hinting that Phoenix was petty and lacked the grace required for the big picture.

Hearing this, Alistair's face darkened further. "Nonsense! To send people to make a fool of themselves at an occasion like this just out of spite?"

Listening to Phoebe twist the truth, Yolanda trembled with anger. She was about to step forward and defend them, but Felix clamped down hard on her arm.

"Don't be rash!" Felix lowered his voice, speaking urgently. "That's the patriarch of the Prescott family, the man who actually holds the power! If you clash with him, you getting fired is the least of it—you'll drag Ms. Prescott down with you!"

Yolanda bit her lip, her heart full of indignation. "So we just let Phoebe throw mud at us?"

"I already texted Ms. Prescott. She should be here any second." Felix wiped a cold sweat from his brow, his eyes darting around. "Anyway, before Ms. Prescott arrives, we have to swallow whatever injustice comes our way. Nobodies like us don't have the right to speak to him directly."

"Why haven't you escorted them out yet?" Dominic frowned, impatiently ordering the two guards. "Do you think just any random stray can barge into the Miller family's banquet?"

The two guards jolted and immediately stepped forward to drive Felix and Yolanda away.

"An invitation?" Phoenix curled her lips nonchalantly. Her slender fingers reached into her black haute couture clutch and pulled out a gold-stamped card. "Are you talking about this?"

The invitation sparkled under the lights, stinging everyone's eyes.

How was this possible? Phoebe's pupils shrank, and she stared dead at the invitation. But she quickly steadied herself and spoke with feigned timidity, "Phoenix, you didn't forge a fake invitation just to sneak into the banquet, did you?"

"Fake?" Phoenix sneered. With a flick of her wrist, she tossed the invitation right at the two security guards. "Open your eyes wide and check if it's real or fake."

The two guards fumbled to catch it and hurriedly inspected it. The moment their eyes landed on the anti-counterfeit holographic seal and the private stamp exclusive to the Miller family patriarch, their faces turned ghostly pale, and they violently shuddered.

"This invitation has to be fake, right?" Seeing the guards' pale faces, Phoebe assumed they were shocked by the forgery method, and she sighed softly. "But, she is the heiress of our Prescott family after all. Could you perhaps do us a favor and look past it..."

"It's real!" the guard interrupted Phoebe, his voice trembling. Holding the invitation with both hands, he respectfully handed it back to Phoenix, bowing at a ninety-degree angle. "Not only is it real, but it's a Supreme Invitation stamped with the patriarch's personal seal!"

"There are only three Supreme Invitations in existence... This lady is the Miller family's most esteemed guest!"
