"I'm going to the restroom."
Simon warned her, "Don't go upstairs. No wandering around."
Clutching her stomach, Seraphina jogged off.
Her footsteps quietly paused outside the CEO's office. She waited until Phoebe came out, then stealthily followed her.
Phoebe walked into a storage room.
Seraphina was about to follow when Simon suddenly appeared and called out, "Seraphina, go print the materials for the afternoon meeting."
"Okay."
Simon urged her a few more times, leaving Seraphina no choice but to head toward the printer. Glancing back, she noticed the storage room door was still ajar. She quickly crept over, locked the deadbolt from the outside, and walked away.
As she passed down the hallway, Seraphina casually flipped the breaker switch for the storage room.
Hearing Phoebe let out a startled gasp from inside, Seraphina felt completely satisfied.
Inside the storage room, Phoebe's vision plunged into total blackness.
A suffocating sensation rushed at her from every direction. In the dark, it felt like countless invisible hands were wrapping around her throat, stealing her breath and her senses. Panic spread rapidly, and Phoebe gasped desperately for air.
She suffered from severe claustrophobia.
After her father passed away and she stood vigil alone, the condition had improved significantly.
She had thought she was cured.
But caught off guard, she realized she couldn't breathe. Her limbs spasmed uncontrollably, and her whole body trembled.
She couldn't even force a cry for help out of her throat. She wanted to pound on the door to make noise, but she had zero strength left.
Suddenly, a large, warm hand wrapped around her waist. A man whispered into her sweat-dampened ear, "Phoebe!"
"Phoebe, calm down!"
The voice was so familiar.
Who was calling her?
Phoebe was delirious. Like a drowning woman clutching at driftwood, she reached up and wrapped her arms around the person's neck. "Save me..." she gasped.
Jaxson had followed her in, originally thinking his office was out of printer paper.
Since the secretarial staff was on lunch break, he decided to grab it himself.
He hadn't expected Phoebe to be in here, and he definitely hadn't expected someone to lock the door and kill the power, plunging the entire storage room into pitch blackness.
