Just then, Andrea's phone rang with an unknown number. The second she held it to her ear and heard the familiar voice, her pitch skyrocketed in disbelief. "Mrs. Jameson?!"
Lyra winced at the piercing volume of Andrea's scream, pulling the phone away to double-check the number, half wondering if someone else had grabbed the line. Confident she had the right person, she asked, "Andrea, did the Ford family get arrested?"
Hearing the words "Mrs. Jameson," Wesley thought he was hallucinating. Thrilled beyond belief, he practically lunged across the table to snatch the phone, but Andrea dodged him smoothly and fired off a rapid response into the receiver. "Jasmine and her whole family have been locked up in Blackrock Penitentiary."
That specific prison was infamous for extreme inmate violence, and no one had ever successfully escaped since it was built.
Elara was locked up in there, too. After she had jumped into the ocean, her flailing had caused the rescue teams to repeatedly mistake her for Lyra. The helicopters had to keep doubling back, which massively delayed the search for Lyra. Thankfully, Rowan had his men drag her out of the water and throw her in prison with the rest of them.
"Jasmine is completely disfigured... I heard it's bad. Her face is a mess, and half of her nose was eaten away by the acid."
"Also, Caspian Jameson was drugged by Jasmine, and now he's half-dead in a hospital bed."
"Mr. Jameson attempted suicide, but thankfully he survived. Victoria Jameson walked in right as he pulled the trigger, which shocked him into missing. The bullet just grazed his shoulder."
Lyra gasped repeatedly, completely stunned. Her heart sank rapidly into her stomach.
It was entirely too much information to process all at once.
"Whose phone are you using? Where are you? I'll call Mr. Jameson right now and tell him we found you!"
"There's no need," Lyra hurriedly interrupted. "He already knows. I can't believe he actually hopped on a flight straight to Rochelle City when he's injured..."
With a deeply troubled sigh, Lyra abruptly ended the call.
Lucas reached out to take his phone back, offering a bit of comfort. "He's probably worried you'll run off again, so he told you to stay put."

The readers' comments on the novel: She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
