At Stella's words, the entire design floor fell completely silent. Everyone looked up, their eyes locked on Summer.

"I expect everyone to keep their focus entirely on their work. This is a direct order from Mr. Gray," Summer announced, sweeping her gaze across the room before landing squarely on Serena.

Meeting her stare, Serena was instantly defensive. "Are you sure it's his order? Gideon is way too busy running a global empire to micromanage us! Don't use his name just to throw your weight around!"

Using his first name so casually, combined with her obvious connections, earned Serena wary looks from her coworkers.

Summer hadn't expected the girl to clap back so publicly. Before she could formulate a response, Serena stood up. "Do you guys all secretly think Summer is Mr. Gray's wife?"

The designers exchanged wild glances, frantic whispers immediately breaking out across the floor.

The drama was unfolding right before their eyes!

Standing next to Summer, Jane watched the confrontation with undisguised fascination.

Summer's face contorted with anger. "You're getting off-topic. We are on the clock!"

Serena laughed dismissively. "She definitely isn't! I grew up with Gideon. I've actually met his wife!"

Lydia's eyes snapped to Serena's face, studying her features intensely and trying to overlay them with fractured memories from the past.

She did look vaguely familiar.

"Serena, I don't know who pulled strings to get you into this department, but it certainly wasn't through HR. You should probably feel a little threatened. Focus on your work so you don't drag your team down."
