Upstairs, Dave rushed back into the CEO's office. "Boss, I found out. Lydia recently joined Nexus Design Studio. She and a designer named Jane were sent here on a contract project. They'll be coming in three days a week."
"Nexus Design Studio?" A faint trace of amusement touched Gideon's eyes. "Bring her up here."
Dave hesitated, looking deeply conflicted.
"What are you waiting for? Go. Now," Gideon ordered.
"Should Stella know about her identity?" Dave asked carefully. "And when I go down there, do I call her Mrs. Gray, or... Ms. Rose?"
Gideon looked up, his gaze pinning his assistant down like a spotlight.
"When did you get so stupid? Did you forget I ripped up the divorce papers?"
"I... I know." But what did that have to do with workplace protocol?
Gideon's expression was unwavering. "Lydia is my wife, and she always will be. She's not a dirty secret. Just go get her. Don't announce it to Stella, because I have zero intention of giving her special treatment at work."
She had snapped his bracelet last night! She'd be lucky if he didn't make her life a living hell.
"Understood," Dave said, turning to fetch her himself.
Bypassing Stella was tricky, but he had no choice.
When Dave appeared at the design department entrance, the room fell silent again. First the assistant, now the chief of staff? When did their floor become a celebrity hotspot?
Lydia was deep in discussion with Tiffany Townley over a design proposal.
"Hi, Mr. Hunter! Can we help you?" one of the female designers asked, staring at him with obvious admiration.
Dave ignored her, walking straight up to Lydia. He studied her elegant, understated beauty and the undeniable grace she carried.
"Mrs. Gray, the boss would like to see you upstairs," Dave murmured, bowing slightly.
