The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 115

Chapter 115

“I’m sorry, what?” Vivian asked, breaking through the silence that consumed us

I turned to look at Landon, equally as confused as everyone else.

“I don’t understand,” I said, shaking my head slowly. “Aren’t these my lessons?”

He shook his head.

“The King wants to teach you himself going forward,” Landon shocked me by saying. “As his favored concubine, he is taking responsibility for your training.”

My heart stopped in my chest; I stared at Landon like he was about to laugh at any moment and tell me that he was joking. But he didn’t. In fact, he started to look a bit awkward when I just stood there and stared at him.

Come to find out that everyone else in the room, including Madam Isa, was also staring at him, dumbfounded.

“I’m sorry… did you hear me?” He asked, his attention returning to me. “The King is waiting in the back parlor for you and would like me to escort you to him personally. He would have come himself, but he had some things to finish up after the meeting.”

My heart was pounding in my chest.

Leopold wanted to continue training me himself?

What did that even mean?

Why would he want to spend more time with me?

“Then, you shall go to the King,” Madam Isa said, snapping herself out of her stupor. “No sense in making him wait.”

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” Vivian said through her teeth. “Why her??”

I could hear her complaining to her friends.

“She’s nothing but a whore. You are way better than her,” Elora said, her eyes darting in my direction.

I turned towards the girls I’ve come to know as my friends, and they gave me eager looks with their thumbs up, giving me the go -ahead to follow Landon.

“Shall we go?” Landon asked, his voice low enough for my ears alone.

I turned to look at him, and though my heart was still pounding violently in my chest, I nodded once.

I followed him out of the ballroom, my footsteps measured and my palms suddenly covered in sweat. I tried to wipe it off with the skirt of my dress, but the sweat kept coming back tenfold.

“I apologize for this scene,” Landon said as we walked. “It wasn’t my intention. I could catch you before you went into the lessons. But I was a little too late.”

“Does the King really want to train me himself?” I asked the question before I could second-guess it.

“Yes,” he said without hesitation. “He’s waiting for you as we speak. He might be a little upset that I’ve made him wait so long, though.”

We continued to walk in silence until we reached the back parlor. It had a gorgeous view of the gardens, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, plenty of natural light,4 and space. There were tables and couches… but a lot of floor for movement. It almost seemed as though the furniture had been moved on purpose.

Then, there he was.

King Leopold.

He was sitting on the couch, his eyes wandering over to the window like he was lost in thought. I wondered for a moment what he was thinking about. My chest tightened at the sight of him, and for a moment, just wanted to stand here and stare at him.

“Your Majesty, I’ve brought Cecilia to you,” Landon said, snapping him out of his thoughts.

He blinked a few times and turned to look at me. His eyes assessed me for a moment before he nodded, effectively dismissing Landon.
