Chapter 120
Cecilia’s POV
The sun was starting to rise, I barely slept a wink last night I couldn’t stop thinking about my dance lessons with Leopold last night The way he maneuvered me around the room, how gentle and yet he was so in charge
My body was still thrumming from him, and my lieart was pounding so hard that it felt like it was going to explode from my
chest
This was bad
This was really bad.
I was expected to meet him in an hour; he’s going to train me in combat. How was I supposed to spend the entire day with this man when my feelings were so conflicted all the time?
Lora was happy being around him, but I knew that the only path this would take me down was the road to heartbreak. There was no way I was going to be able to keep myself from falling for him if I was spending all the time with him like this. That close to him, nevertheless.
The thought made my heart ache.
I swallowed it down, though, because in reality, I didn’t have a choice. I needed to get out of bed and do what must be done
I slid out of bed, my feet hitting the ground. I stare down at the ground for a moment longer befored stand and make my way towards my closet. I rummaged through all the dresses before I found one flexible enough to move with me while I trained in defense with the King

”
She had a small platter of assorted frits, and my stomach started to growl at the sight of it. I realized I was hungry and was about to go into training on an empty stomach.
I let out a breath as I stepped out of the bathroom.
“Thank you,” I said to her, giving her a small smile as she went to place the tood on the table.
I watched her work effectively. Instead of coffee or tea this morning, she bought me some water and orange juice. She started to pour the liquid into each glass before she stepped back and turned to look at me.
“Is there anything else you’d like this morning before I head back to the slave quarters?”
“I should be okay,” I tell her. “But thank you.”
She nodded and left the room without another word.
I sat down at the table and started to eat the fruit; it all tasted so fresh and delicious. I knew this fruit came from the gardens. They didn’t just have flowers in the gardens; they had an entire section of homegrown fruits and veggies.
Every time I walk by that section, my mouth waters.
Once most of the fruit was gone, I stood and went towards my door. Taking a deep breath, I opened it and stepped into the empty and dimly lit hallway. I was alone, which was a nice welcome. I shut the door behind me and went down the hallway until I found the stairwell that takes me into the front foyer area.
Leopold told me to meet him in the back parlor, and then we would go to the training grounds together. But just as I reached the
