The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 181

Chapter 181

Cecilia’s POV

I saw Leopold’s face fall almost immediately, and then he pulled back. I wasn’t sure what he was looking for, but I could see the pure disappointment on his face. He pulled his hand back as if I had burned him, the confusion evident on his face.

His eyes found mine, and his brows furrowed as he studied my face.

“It seems there had been a mistake,” he said, his voice was gravelly.

Before I could ask him what he meant, Landon interrupted.

“Sire…we have a situation over here.”

It brought my attention back to Anna, who was now in custody; she was struggling against Rem, who I just realized was standing near the doorway. When had he even arrived? Did he come with Leopold and Landon?

How did they know I was in trouble?

“Please,” Anna cried. “It was just a misunderstanding!”

Her crocodile tears didn’t fool me, given what she had confessed to me beforehand. I folded my arms across my chest, desperate to hold myself together.

“You confessed to me that you put Moonshade in my soup for revenge against your mother’s death,” I said, shaking my head at her. “You can’t lie your way out of this one, Anna.”

“Sire, what should we do?” Rem asked, his grip on Anna tightening, making her whimper in pain as she continued to struggle against him.

Leopold blinked a couple of times like he was just realizing what was going on. His brows dipped as he stared at Anna.

“She will be tried as a traitor to the palace,” Leopold finally said, making Anna suck in a sharp breath. “Take her away.”

“Right away,” Rem said, dipping his head slightly before dragging a screaming and crying Anna out of the room.

Landon turned to look at Leopold, his eyes searching his face. It seemed as if they were having a secret conversation that only they could hear. Landon eventually cleared his throat and dipped his head as well.

“I’ll make sure she is imprisoned, Your Majesty,” he said before he turned and left my room, leaving me alone with, Leopold.

I opened my mouth to thank him for coming when he did.

“I found my mate.”

I clamped my lips shut; not sure I heard him correctly.

When I didn’t respond, he continued.

“I didn’t see her face, though, so I have no idea who she might be. I was hoping maybe you could speak with my wolf and getto the bottom of it.”

I blinked, trying to wrap my head around what he was asking me.

“Is that… is that why you canceled the consort ceremony?” I asked, my voice coming out small.

He gave a short nod; his eyes fixed on the ground like he was almost ashamed to be admitting this out loud.

“When…?” I cleared my throat. “How did you meet her?”

“The details aren’t important,” he said absentmindedly. “My mate is somewhere in this palace, and I need to find her.”

I nodded, though I felt like throwing up. I knew what it was like to have a mate somewhere in this palace as well… but I kept my thoughts to myself.

“Cecilia…” I heard a voice my head, and I knew right away that it belonged to Warren. “It is past midnight. Full moon not as strong. No longer sense mate.”

He sounded so sad, and it pained me. It’s been while since I spoke to him, and guilt clung to me like a second skin.

“He said he no longer senses your mate,” I tell Leopold, mimicking Warren’s words. “Now that the full moon isn’t as strong.

Leopold let out a breath as he ran his fingers through his hair; it didn’t look like it was the first time his fingers had gone through his hair this evening. I imagine he’s been stressed since finding his mate earlier in the day.

“I was afraid of that,” he murmured. “Does he know who she might be?”
