Chapter 204
Leopold’s POV
I knew she couldn’t bear to leave me. She wanted me, and her running into my room half-naked was only proof of that.
I could still taste her on my tongue; I could still feel her warmth coiling around my cock like she was made for me. I knew it was ridiculous to think about because Cecilia wasn’t my mate, but I couldn’t help but wonder why it felt so right to be with her. I never felt anything remotely like this when I was around Sophia, and she was actually my
mate.
Not like I’ve had sex with Sophia, and truth be told, I had no desire to. That should say something alone.
It would be a whole lot easier if I could communicate with my wolf and figure out what the hell was going on. I wanted to know what he was thinking about this whole thing, but I knew it wasn’t fair to continue to ask Cecilia to communicate with him when things had been so complicated between us.
But now she’s naked in my bed, sleeping soundly. I watched her for a long while, her breath moving up and down, and my cock hardened again at the sight of her. I wanted to lift the blanket and take a peek at her naked body again, but I decided not to do that because I would be a creep if I did.
She was gorgeous, though, the way her hair fell around her features and her flushed cheeks. The way she looked when she came undone… not once, but twice. Once from my mouth and the other time from my cock. If she weren’t so exhausted, I would have kept going until she was nothing but a panting mess and a puddle beneath my body. But I could tell she was tired and needed to get some sleep, and I wasn’t going to disturb her.
I slept as well; once she fell asleep, I did too. It was probably the best night of sleep I’ve had in a long time.
She stirred, and I stilled, watching her carefully as her eyes fluttered open and met mine. For a moment, my breath caught in my throat, and I couldn’t seem to look away from her. I opened my mouth to say something but stopped when I saw the slight horror on her face.
It turned into pure shock as she sat up quickly, pulling the blanket tighter around her, her face growing even redder.
“Your Majesty,” she breathed. “I… Oh goddess…”
I could see the instant regret on her face, and it made something darken inside of me. I hated that look she was giving me, like she had ruined something vital inside of her. I pressed my lips together.
“No need to overreact, Cecilia. It was just sex,” I told her. “You came to me willingly and wanted to get into my bed. I knew you couldn’t stay away for long.”
I went to reach out to her, but she flinched away, tears gathering in her eyes.
“This shouldn’t have happened,” she whispered, more to herself than to me. “I shouldn’t be here… You have a mate… I… Oh Goddess, forgive me.”
Anger surged through me; now she was filled with regret?
After what she said last night? She told me she was mine, and now she was going back on that.
A shield was placed between us at that moment, and a mask fell over my face as I hardened my expression.
“You’re right,” I muttered. “It shouldn’t have happened; it was a mistake.’

She glanced at me, and I saw the flash of hurt in her eyes… good.
Telid out of bed, pulling on my pants, which were scattered on the ground. I ignored Cecilia’s gaze as she stared at my chest and then my abs before her eyes met mine again.
“You should go,” I tell her. “Before anyone sees you. We don’t need more rumors starting.”
My tone was cold; much colder than I meant, but with my mask in place, it was fitting.
