Chapter 331

I closed my eyes, the dull ache in the back of my head intensifying. The last thing I wanted was to return to the palace without Cecilia and have to deal with my fake mate.
But then I thought about something and my eyes flew open.
“Is Maevis still at the palace?”
“Yes, Sire,” Landon replied instantly.
I turned to the warriors searching the bunker.
“I need to return to the palace,” I told them. “There’s someone there I need to speak to. She might be able to shed some light on where Cecilia might be.”
They nodded, unbothered by my quick exit. They knew better than to question me.
I climbed the ladder to leave the bunker, and the second my feet hit the dirt, I shifted into Warren and allowed him to run as fast as he could back to the palace. We agreed that if anyone knew where Cecilia might be, it was
Maevis.
With everything that’s been going on, I hadn’t even thought about asking her before I took off.
It took a little over an hour with my wolf speed to return to the palace.
I shifted back into human form with ease, grabbing my clothes from a nearby chest before I ran towards the palace entrance. The moment I stepped onto the property, I could smell the scent of Lycan wolves. There were way more than just Vandemere’s.
My eyes spotted several warriors who wore the Lycan crest; their bodies large and their demeanors as if they owned the place. They stood beside my guards, who looked small in comparison. They also looked nervous; it was embarrassing-my royal guards, cowering to outsiders.
It was late in the evening, practically morning, and yet several slaves were already awake, bustling around the palace grounds and preparing for the wedding that was supposed to take place in a couple of days.
The thought of the wedding pissed me off; it was built on lies. Sophia was not my mate, and I was going to out her in front of the entire King’s Court for the liar and fraud she is. I’m going to strip her and her family of everything they have and get justice for Cecilia.
They were her family too; I discovered that when it was discovered that Sophia and Cecilia were both Alpha William’s daughters.
“Her family treated Cecilia like shit,” Warren growled. “They deserve to feel every ounce of pain they inflicted on her.”
“In due time, we will make them pay,” I agreed. “But finding Cecilia comes first.”
I started towards the stairwell that led to the guest rooms, but a strong aura stopped me in my tracks. I was strong by nature, but this aura was different. It made me submit like I was an average wolf.
Several others in the same area fell to their knees, their arms outstretched and their foreheads touching the

My eyes darted around until they spotted a man walking into the foyer. He was by far the largest person I have ever seen. His hair was midnight black, and his skin was olive. Tattoos covered almost every inch of his body except his face. His eyes were blazing red as if he and his wolf were a single unit.
The corner of his lips curved when he spotted me, and I could see his razor-sharp canines.
Several warriors stood on either side of him, walking alongside him like they owned the place. Like this was their territory.
I knew right away that they were Lycans.
