Riley arrived at the garden and saw Sebastian standing in the gazebo on a phone call, while Assistant Fang stood rigidly at the bottom of the steps.
As she walked closer, she overheard Sebastian saying into the phone, “Break both of his legs.” She froze in her tracks, terrified to move a muscle.
Had she come at a bad time?
Was she going to be silenced for hearing something she shouldn't have?
“Come here.”
The man's deep, magnetic voice echoed from the gazebo. Riley snapped back to reality and looked up at Sebastian. He had hung up at some point and was now sitting at the stone table, staring right at her.
Driven by pure survival instinct, a thoughtless sentence tumbled out of her mouth. “I didn't hear anything.”
Sebastian noted the panic and fear in Riley's eyes, raising an eyebrow. “Are you afraid of me?”
His gaze held an intimidating weight that made it impossible to maintain eye contact.
Riley lowered her eyes, carefully choosing her words before speaking. “You hold immense power and status. It's only natural that people revere you.”
A ghost of a smirk touched Sebastian's lips. She certainly knew what to say. “Come sit down.”
Riley stepped into the gazebo and slowly sat down at the stone table, carefully supporting her belly.
A complete luxury tea set and a box of premium Biluochun tea leaves sat on the table.
Arthur loved tea, so Riley had specifically learned tea ceremonies to please him. Not daring to look around, she kept her eyes downcast, steadying her nerves as she carefully rinsed the tea set.
Sebastian casually crossed his long legs. His slender fingers gently toyed with the rare wood beaded bracelet on his wrist as his assessing gaze fell on Riley's face.
She wore no makeup, yet her features were clear and elegant, exuding a clean, comfortable aura. Due to her pregnancy, her figure was slightly fuller, and her round belly nearly brushed against the stone table.
Riley could feel Sebastian's eyes on her, like needles prickling her back. She always considered herself to have strong mental fortitude, but her palms were already starting to sweat.
Just then, the man's deep voice sounded. “Are you still working?”
