Given her advanced age, Eleanor's energy was limited. After finishing her birthday noodles and greeting a few close friends and family members, she retired to rest.
At this point, guests were free to leave if they wished.
Some people with pressing matters departed, while others with potential business collaborations left together to find a quieter place to talk. Naturally, there were also couples who had hit it off and slipped away to enjoy themselves.
Before long, a third of the guests in the banquet hall had cleared out, though the room remained bustling. Those who stayed would likely party until dawn.
Riley looked at Pierce. "Shall we head back?"
"I just made a connection with an overseas client, and there's a good chance for a partnership. Let me introduce you to him."
"That's not necessary. It's enough that you know him."
"Riley..."
"I don't feel well," Riley cut him off.
Pierce felt like she was just making excuses because she was still upset over what happened earlier. However, he didn't dare force her, knowing it would only make her angrier. "Then you go on ahead. There are still a few people I want to network with."
Riley agreed without a second thought. "Alright." She turned and left.
Beatrice walked up to Pierce. "Why did Riley leave?"
"She wasn't feeling well."
Beatrice frowned in displeasure. "What do you mean she wasn't feeling well? I think she just didn't want to support you properly. I used to think she only had a low-class background, but now I see she has low-class character too. Going back on her word, completely untrustworthy. Good thing you signed..."
"Mother," Pierce interrupted her coldly.
Catching the warning in her son's eyes, Beatrice pouted and said no more, turning away to find Serena.
Back at the guesthouse, Riley picked up the landline and called the butler. She spoke, feeling slightly embarrassed. "Hello. Could you possibly get someone to buy me some sanitary pads?"
The estate was in the suburbs, and there were no stores nearby. Since it was an emergency, she had no choice but to ask the butler.
"Mr. St. John has already given the order. The items have been sent over and should be arriving any minute."
Sebastian had given the order?
