The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 25

The elevator quickly reached the third floor.

The doors opened. Miles prepared to guide her out, but noticed she remained frozen in place. "What's wrong?"

Riley couldn't help but give a self-deprecating smile. When had she become so cowardly? "Nothing. Let's go."

The two stepped out of the elevator.

Riley turned to look at the doctor profiles on the wall.

Seeing the exact same images from Pierce's video call last night, her eyes instantly filled with tears.

Entertaining clients. A client getting his stomach pumped.

Lies. All of it was a lie!

And she had worried about him like a fool last night.

Worried he drank too much and ended up in the hospital, worried he got into a fight, worried he got into a car accident on the road...

But there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. He was just keeping another woman company!

No wonder he said it was inconvenient to answer a video call. Because he never went to Ashford. He was guilty, terrified of being caught.

All those sweet nothings he whispered last night...

Marrying her was his greatest fortune.

He would never leave her, promising to take care of her and their daughter forever.

Saying those things to her while taking care of another woman, and she had felt so happy and moved.

Ridiculous. So utterly ridiculous!

Her heart felt as if it were crushed in a vice, the sheer force tearing at her insides until every breath was agony.

Riley clutched her chest, a suffocating wave of despair rushing to her head. The world spun wildly around her, her vision blacking out in violent waves.

Seeing she couldn't even stand steadily, tears streaming down her face like broken pearls, Miles turned pale with fright. "Riley, what's happening? Don't scare me!"

Suddenly, he spotted crimson blood staining her beige pants. His expression changed drastically. "Riley, you're bleeding!"

Blood?

Riley looked down in a daze, and when she saw the blinding crimson, her pupils dilated in horror. It finally registered that the agonizing pain wasn't in her heart—it was in her stomach.

The baby. Her baby!

"Miles, the maternity ward, take me to..."

Before Riley could finish, she plummeted into an endless abyss of darkness.

It was so dark.

So dark that no matter how hard she tried to open her eyes, she couldn't see a single sliver of light.

The baby. She had to save her baby.

Trapped in the boundless void, she wandered helplessly, desperate to find a glimmer of light, desperate for someone to save her child.

Suddenly, she heard someone calling her name.

"Riley."

She turned toward the voice and saw a warm, golden glow at the end of the darkness. Pierce stood in the light, smiling at her.

She hurried over, grabbing his hand frantically. "Pierce, the baby, save our baby!" She tried to press his hand against her stomach.
