The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 2181

By the time they finished enduring the agonizing ordeal at the hospital, the sky outside had already faded to a deep black.

Stella checked the time and asked, "It's getting late. Should we grab something to eat?"

Joshua accepted without a second thought. "Sure."

Leonard followed the two of them into an upscale Western restaurant in absolute silence.

Throughout the dinner, Stella was overly accommodating, recommending signature dishes and politely asking if Joshua had any dietary restrictions.

When the food arrived, she even leaned over and cut his steak for him.

To Leonard, the sight was unbearable.

Knowing that Joshua was using Calico as leverage to effortlessly manipulate both him and Stella made Leonard's gaze turn utterly glacial.

Mid-meal, Joshua seemed to catch the lethal glare aimed at him. He looked up, meeting Leonard's furious eyes.

"Why are you just staring at me instead of eating?"

Leonard's tone was deadpan. "I was just thinking that since you've suffered such a severe injury, shouldn't you inform Miss Croft?

She seemed incredibly concerned about you earlier today."

Joshua smiled flawlessly. "There's no need. I prefer to handle my own problems rather than burdening others.

Unlike you, who has to drag people along just to find a missing cat."

Leonard fired back, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "With injuries as catastrophic as yours, I assumed you'd be entirely incapacitated. I'm surprised you can even lift your cutlery without a caretaker."

Joshua paused, turning his dark eyes toward him.

Stella's eye twitched. A deep sense of foreboding washed over her.

Her intuition was instantly proven right.

Joshua abruptly placed his fork and knife down. "Now that you mention it, I didn't even notice. But since you brought it up, my hand does feel a bit sore."

Leonard sneered. "Would you like me to feed you?"
