The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 124

Chapter 124

“So stubborn,” his mother says fondly. “Always has been.”

I wonder if she realizes how familiar that word sounds to me now.

I glance at Dom, he glances at me, and we both look away.

Dessert arrives.

One bowl.

Two spoons.

They place it between us with unmistakable intent.

“Share,” his mother says lightly. “It builds closeness.”

My stomach knots.

Dominic doesn’t reach for his spoon. Neither do I.

“I… don’t think this is appropriate,” I say carefully.

His father chuckles. “You’re fated mates, Ellie. This is nothing.”

“I… don’t think I will.” I say, fainting timid.

“You’re young, you’ll understand in time.” His father nods. “Eat. Both of you.”

When I finally step back into the night air, it feels like surfacing from deep water. My lungs burn as I breathe, and the weight on my chest doesn’t lift, not really.

The door shuts behind me and I let out a sigh of relief.

Only to flinch when I realize Dominic is still standing next to me, outside. Hands in his pockets, staring into the night.

“What a shit show,” He mutters.

I tuck some curls behind my ear and look between him and the door. “Um, Dominic? What are you-

“Come on,” He says, shoes tapping down the steps. “Let me walk you home.”

I stare after him.

Wh-What?! Walk me home?!
