The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 468

Chapter 468

My heart was thudding so wildly I was certain it might beat right out of my chest and run off to join the drummer, but I nodded.

“I can’t help but agree,” I said.

Dominic grinned and slammed his mouth against mine, fingers tangling in my braid, and more cheers went up and then someone was pressing drinks into our hand and everything else fell away.

It was later, when our feet finally hurt too much to keep dancing and we had retreated to the quiet end of the table, that Dominic set the pen down in front of my father.

Terence looked at it. “What is this?”

“It’s a recorder.” Dominic turned it once against the wood and pressed a button.

My father and I leaned in, listening to the crackly voices. I heard Vivian confessing to bribing Monroe to help her force Dominic to marry her-it didn’t surprise me at this point. Then, I heard Monroe threatening to harm Goldenveil’s reputation, destroying the tentative foothold the pack had found in the past months.

After, my father leaned back in his chair and leveled Dominic with a look. “So. What are you planning on doing?”

“I meant what I said to Monroe,” Dominic said. “This news has to come out. We can’t let him get away with it.”

My father’s jaw tightened. He looked at me. “What do you think your mate should do?”

Both men were staring at me now, waiting. I swallowed and turned to Dominic. “Fuck him. I think you should do it.”

Dominic smiled, just a little.

“Then it’s settled,” my father said with a nod. “Whatever you choose to do, however you choose to do it, Goldenveil will support you. We’ve been through far worse; we’re not afraid of one man and a few petty threats.”

I let out a breath, although I wasn’t sure about that. Goldenveil had been reduced to rubble once before, my people scattered, the life I could have known ripped away before I could even understand it.

If something like that happened again, I couldn’t bear it.

Dominic, noticing my expression, laid his hand over mine and said softly, “I won’t let anything happen to Goldenveil.”

“But once you leave, you’ll be so far away-”

“That’s why I’m staying.”
