The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 476

Chapter 476

Dominic came to stand beside me. His fingers found mine, warm even through his gloves.

“It’s beautiful,” he muttered. “We just summited a mountain together.”

I grinned and looked at him. His face was white from sunscreen and his hair was a mess, but he was smiling, too.

I leaned over and kissed him. He tasted like sweat.

“I love you,” he murmured, pressing his forehead against mine.

My heart went wild.

“Found it.” Bastian, behind us, held up the map and pointed off into the distance.

I followed his finger and felt my stomach sink. It was nothing. A slope of broken rock and rime ice, indistinguishable from every other slope of broken rock we’d passed in the last six hours.

We circled the spot for a better part of an hour, but there was nothing of note. No entrance to some cave system. No hidden doorways.

We were just considering calling it a loss and turning back, hoping to get down the mountain before night fell, when the Seeker ability suddenly went off like a radar.

I whirled around, gasping. The invisible thread, the very same one that led me to plants, was running straight into the rock face. On the other side of that stone, somewhere in the dark, I felt something calling to me.

“Here,” I said, walking up to the rock and putting my glove flat against it. “Dig here.”

Bastian frowned at me. “The map puts it further—”

“Bastian. Here.”

He looked at my hand on the stone, then at my face. I knew he was looking at the same expression he’d seen when I’d found the God’s Tongue for Amelia, and I knew he wasn’t going to question it this time.
