The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 515

Chapter 515

The tips of his ears were going red. That, of course, was what did me in.

“I… I think I’d like that,” I admitted, my own face going hot. “If you’ll have me, I mean.”

“If I’ll-” He laughed, short and fill of disbelief, then crossed the room in three steps and took my face in his hands, cupping my cheeks gently and running his thumbs obver my cheekbones. “Ellie. I kept your side of the closet empty just in case you decided to come back.”

I laughed too, and for a moment, I leaned my face into his palms, swhutting my eyes. I let his touch soothe me, let him brush kisses over my brows, my nose, my lips. But then I made myself say the rest. Because it needed saying.

“It’s not going to be like flipping a switch,” I said, opening my eyes. “We signed divorce papers. Some days it’s still going to feel tentative and strange, and I don’t want either of us pretending otherwise.” I curled my fingers into his coat. “But I can’t picture the rest of my life with anyone else. So I’ll come home-I’ll be with you, as we were meant to be. But I’m continuing my healer work. I’m not dropping all of that to be your Luna again. Not yet.”

“Fair enough,” he said, grinning so broad now his teeth flashed in the dim light. “Ellie, as long as you’re home, I don’t care what you do. Disappear for months on end on your healer assignments for all I care. So long as you come home to me.”

He kissed my forehead and let me go, turning away to gather the last of our things.

And with his back turned, my hand found its way to my belly.

A first child, born of both bloods.

A missed cycle could mean a dozen different things. Any healer knew that. Stress. Injury. Days without real food. I’d counseled a hundred patients through that exact panic. There was no sense saying anything until I could take a proper test, and besides, I didn’t want to share news like that in a place like this.
