“I do not know about you, Storm, but I have a limited time. I have to activate the blood moon and to do that I have to get out of here.” Nikolai complained, tapping his fingers on the table.
Ophelia puckered her lips. “Like I said, everyone will expect me to kill you.” and she took a piece of fruit and slowly put it in her mouth.
“And to get out of here, I have to kill you. I no longer care to hurt your betrothed.”
Ophelia gave a nod, saying, “That’s okay. However, you are required to accompany me to the ball; it is not an option.” She proceeded to stroll in Nikolai’s direction, setting her bowl of freshly cut fruits on the table.
Nikolai gave her a sidelong glance and then nodded. “Then I will go to this ball and listen to whatever judgment the sun gods have for me.”
Telling them that he entered their celestial dimension by mistake was a waste of time because they would not listen. It was an order, a regulation that no deity was allowed to enter another heavenly realm.
Nikolai knew what needed to be done, and he had to execute it without considering the consequences. À mistake had pushed him so far. Pushed him to…
“You are hellbent on wanting to battle with me aren’t you?” Abruptly, Ophelia interrupted his thoughts with a question.
“Huh?” That question surprised Nikolai, but he quickly collected himself and turned to face the fruit bowl. “I won’t say hellbent.”

Ophelia gave him a pinched look. “So you think you’ll win?”
Nikolai was shocked once more. He turned to face her and opened his mouth to say something, but Ophelia suddenly came in closer, causing him to stifle his expression. “You underestimate me don’t you Niki?”
Nikolai ingested. In so many ways, this goddess was driving him crazy. Her voice was full of soothing mischief, and the very sound of them so close made his body tremble. “I don’t.” He released his breath and looked aside.
Slyly, Ophelia smiled. “Is that so?” She then leaned back and put her hand on her waist. “Shall we concentrate on the objective up ahead? Killing a sun god is the key to returning to your heavenly dimension, which is what will allow you to summon the blood moon. It is only fitting that the sun god and the fire god should anticipate that you will perish in my care given that they are aware of your being here and in my care. But first things first, you must receive judgment. It just so happens that today is an annual and significant ball, so there will be plenty of festivities before our combat.”
The excitement in her last statement made him raise a brow. “Festivities?”
Ophelia stepped back and settled herself on the bed, one leg on top of the other. “Since this is going to be my final day, I’d better make the most of it by spending it with the person who could kill me, you. Same goes for you.”
Taking a slice of fruit, Nikolai scoffed. He had never come across someone so capricious. “How long do we have till the ball?”

stomach tighten.”
Nikolai lowered his smile. “Aggression. Carnage. Storm, those are not the same words. And my typical manner of living consists of those two words, just as yours is full of bold serenity.”
With a smile, Ophelia lowered her eyes. “Complete opposites.” And she stood up. “How about we make a promise?”
Then Nikolai laughed. “A promise?”
“Just like you’re here, in the day time and seeing the sun, why don’t you show the moon and nighttime?”
At that inquiry, Nikolai stood up and grinned. “That’s an unusual way of…”
“Yes or no?” Ophelia interrupted him right away.
Her golden eyes gleamed with expectation, while Nikolai’s ruby eyes shone with laughter.
“Even if it’s a red moon?” Nikolai approached her and questioned.
“Even if it’s a red moon.” Breathing, Ophelia looked up at him as he steadily
drew closer to her.
“Very well then Storm, I promise I’ll show you the moon.” With his head cocked to the side, he leaned in and shamelessly peered into her golden eyes. “And I promise to be with you in that night, under the stars, under the moon, even if it’s in the middle of chaos.”
The words, which blended so masterfully with his deep, calming voice, housed Ophelia’s face to flush bright red. “You don’t have to say it that way!”

Ophelia heaved in her chest, “I believe it does.”
“The sensation of proximity to you. A feeling of euphoria, as you previously stated. It is energizing and addictive. The urge to hold you intensifies.”
Ophelia swallowed and stared into his bold eyes, which oozed an unfathomable burning desire that made her crave to burn. The danger that lurked around him. He was a living temptation…. It was difficult for her to ignore him. Not that it was her desire.
“Dissolve that urge.” Ophelia whispered, a composed grin forming on her mouth.
Her statements did not surprise Nikolai, who smiled. “And if I do not want to?”
“I want you to stay, but that’s just selfish on my part. Niki, we all have obligations, and one of those obligations is to end any romantic feelings and infatuation that may be developing between us.” She spoke in a tone that was both gentle and a touch strained, allowing Nikolai to read her at that precise moment like an open book.
“Are you focusing more on fate or order? You know, I think, that fate is in our hands as gods. We have the ability to do and undo. We are able to both create and destroy.”
“Saying this only means that you can choose to disregard your responsibility to trigger the appearance of the red moon,”
“I can.”

But then she smiled and raised her hands, cupping his face. “Niki, we still have to murder each other. We must never lose sight of the fact that you can only return to your celestial world if one of us survives. You claim that

blood had already been applied to every celestial domain, and the blood oon was waiting to be activated. All living things that are directly under he moon would have a raw effect if Nikolai did not go back to his heavenly plane to complete the appearance.
Even the ultimate blood moon deity, the supreme master, wished to escape an unnecessary chaos that was about to come. This Ophelia also knew.
“Sadly.” With a giggle, Ophelia dropped her hands.
Nikolai straightened up, smiled, and leaned away. “Sad indeed.”
Taking a big breath, Ophelia raised her hands to Nikolai, who chuckled and grabbed them, helping her to stand.
