The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 237

237 Guess what

Deep within Ophelia’s subconscious, a horrific scene unfolded before her eyes. She watched in terror as Dominik, his eyes flaring with malice, hurled a spear forged from golden flames into the back of Goddess Ophelia. The spear’s tip emerged from Nikolai’s back, and Ophelia’s scream echoed through the desolate landscape of her mind.

For two weeks, Ophelia had been trapped in a neverending nightmare, forced to witness the entirety of Goddess Ophelia’s life, from beginning to end. She had watched as the gods lived, loved, and ultimately met their

demise.

Her body crumpled to the ground, her face buried in her hands as she wept uncontrollably. Her thoughts were consumed by Nikolai, and the

overwhelming longing to return to him.

Suddenly, her eyes snapped open, and she was met with an unfamiliar ceiling. Her eyes transformed into their sharp, golden reptilian form.

Where am I?She sat up with a jolt/her chest heaving as she struggled to catch her breath. Her hand flew to her chest, as if to calm the racing beat of

her heart.

The chamber was simple, yet the architecture hinted at a sophistication that didn’t belong to Celestia or Fireria.

Memories came flooding backSasha’s spell which was by Nikolai’s orders, and the recovery of her past life. She was no longer just Ophelia; she was a merging of her past and present souls. The realization was both

exhilarating and terrifying.

Ophelia rose to her feet, her eyes scanning the chamber for any clues. Reluctantly, she stepped out of the chamber, her bare feet making no sound on the cold floor. She ignored the discomfort, her focus on uncovering her

surroundings.

As she walked down the hall, the clamor of cheers, laughter, and music grew louder, and she realized with a start that she was in a brothel.

MissA sultry voice called out behind her, and Ophelia turned to face a woman clad in a revealing outfit. The woman’s pale, flawless skin and crimson eyes, however, betrayed her true nature a vampire.

Where am I?Ophelia brow arched in inquiry.

The vampire woman laughed, a breathy, husky sound. You’re a golden dragon, and you don’t know where you are?

Ophelia’s brow remained raised, her expression dead serious. The vampire sighed, a hint of resignation in her voice. You are in Malenia, the home of vampires, Miss. And your husband instructed me to ensure you don’t leave

the chamber.

Ophelia’s eyes widened in shock. Husband?she repeated, before bursting into laughter.

Where exactly in Malenia am I?she asked, still chuckling.

The maid’s expression turned stern. Vylonia. But you should return to your chamber. Malenia is not safe, especially now that—

Ophelia raised a hand, rubbing her temples tensely. No stories, please. I just want to know where thishusband of mine is.”

The maid’s eyes narrowed. He went into the city not long ago.

A radiant smile spread across Ophelia’s face. Alright. She turned and reentered the chamber, locking the door behind her.

Humming, she opened the window and leaped out, transforming into her majestic dragon form. Her wings unfolded, and she soared into the sky, her thunderous roar echoing through the clouds as she vanished into the

distance.

*Flashback*

Esteban’s brow furrowed in disapproval. I don’t think inviting them to the festival was necessary, brother. They’re our enemies, after all.

Rodion exhaled a waft of smoke from his pipe, his eyes narrowed on his unconscious daughter, Ophelia, who lay motionless on the bed. Her petite frame and peaceful expression belied her true age and nature.

We came to Celestia to test the waters, to see if they’re capable of peace. Just because it hasn’t worked out yet doesn’t mean we should give up. There are always more chances to try.”

Esteban frowned. Brother!

Rodion cocked his head to the side, studying Ophelia’s serene face. She’s been passing out frequently since we began the experiment. See to it that the guards keep a close eye on her before we depart tomorrow night.

Esteban’s eyes widened in surprise. Why not leave tonight?

A sly smirk spread across Rodion’s face as he rose to his feet. To be honest, I’ve grown quite fond of Celestia, despite theunsettling encounter with that young lycan.”

Rodion departed the room, Esteban fuming in his wake. Ridiculous,

Esteban muttered, casting a scathing glance at Ophelia before storming out himself.

Minutes passed, and Ophelia’s eyelids fluttered open, weak and disoriented. She pushed herself into a sitting position, rubbing her eyes to clear the haze.

Slowly, she jumped off the bed and called out in a tiny, anxious voice, River,

where are you?

As she ventured out of the chamber, her search for River proved futile. Instead, she found herself wandering aimlessly through the hallway. The silence was broken by a terrified voice, à young boy’s pleas echoing from the door she had just passed.

No! No, stay away! Stay away from me, please! The boy’s words sent shivers down Ophelia’s spine, and she halted, goosebumps prickling her

skin.

Perplexed, Ophelia approached the door, grasping the knob. Hello?she called out softly, her voice heavy with concern.

She pushed the door open, and it creaked, revealing a dimly lit room. A single candle flickered, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The faint light was enough to reveal a disheveled fouryearold boy, his long hair tangled, as he quivered in the corner of the room, beside the bed.

Are you okay?Ophelia asked, rushing to his side. But the boy’s eyes went wide with terror, and he screamed, hiding his face in his knees.

No! Stay away! Don’t hurt me, please! Please! His tiny voice was grave with defeated horror, and Ophelia’s eyes widened in panic..

But I’m notI’m not going to hurt you,she protested, trying to reassure him.

The boy’s response was a heartwrenching whimper. You’re lying! They’re all hurting me!

Ophelia’s throat constricted as she swallowed hard. She squatted in front of the boy, her voice gentle. I won’t hurt you, I promise.

The boy’s voice trembled as he peeked out from behind his knees. Why should I believe you?
