51 Dangerous
Feeling a hot breath on her face, Ophelia sputtered into consciousness and turned her head away. Her eyes flickered open, glimmering dimly and appeared to be a similar shade of midnight blue. 1
Her eyes slightly widened as she turned her head back to the source of the hot breath and noticed the Tiger Phoenix staring at her as though she were an experiment that needed to be thoroughly researched.
“Hello there Pain,” she said with a slender smile as she cautiously sat herself down. She reached out to touch the Tiger Phoenix’s head, but as soon as her palm touched its soft fur, everything that had transpired earlier that day came rushing back into her head. A large scowl then appeared on her face.
“I can’t believe I fell unconscious right before I was going to smack his skull.” She grumbled and let out a long sigh as she met the interested Tiger Phoenix’s eyes. She had to turn her head away from those captivating forest green eyes of his.
“Where is he?” She looked around curiously then back at the guardian beast and began to stroke his fur. He purred and she beamed.
“Like every other cat,” She chuckled. “I’m curious as to why you decided to stand by such an insane being. To be so aloof and dismissive towards his family, he must have been terribly hurt by them, but he must have also
hurt them.”
Ophelia could comprehend the animosity between Nikolai’s family and himself, both in terms of how he treated them and how they treated him. Unlike werewolves, lycans did not have packs, but they valued their family just as much as a pack did. One might even argue that the relationship between lycan family members was stronger than that of a pack of

werewolves.
“What must have happened?” She inquired as she stood up from the bed and stretched her arms.
The Tiger Phoenix laid the ground, his eyes partially open.
Ophelia gave him an inquisitive gaze. “Is Nikolai in any real danger?”

She arched an eyebrow and took a straight stance. “Nevermind, I need to locate my brother.” She immediately turned aside and moved for the door, but as soon as she put her hand on the handle, she felt a dark powerful presence behind her.
In a sing–song voice, Nikolai warned. “FireStorm, do not venture outside,”
“Asshole.” Ophelia let out a breath. As she turned to face Nikolai, her fire–encircled dagger materialized in her hand and she threw it, aiming at his forehead. However, Nikolai managed to grab the weapon by the handle just as the blade was about to touch his skin.
She cocked her head and glared at him in complete bewilderment as a wry smile curved across those delicious lips of his. “Am I just a toy to you? If I am, I will make you regr…”
“You need not worry; your brother is in good hands.” Nikolai interrupted and pointed the dagger at her.
Ophelia scoffed and snatched the dagger from him. “What did you do today, Nikolai?” She had to ask.
“First and foremost, I wanted to enjoy the event for myself. Secondly, I was curious about the identity of the dragon. I wasn’t anticipating that it
would be your brother.”
Ophelia’s face darkened. “You don’t stop and think before you act, do you? You don’t consider the possibility of doing someone harm.” She

reprimanded him before moving closer to him.
Nikolai blinked startledly. “I’ll never do you any harm.”
Gritting her teeth, Ophelia pressed the dagger’s icy blade on his lower lip. “Why do I still find you attractive despite your insane antics?” She questioned in a low voice as her gaze lingered on his seductive lips.
Nicolai gulped. Hard. Naturally, it was his turn to feel nervous. She was correcting him in a manner similar to a mother. His body stiffened in response to her fierce gaze on his lips, but the goddess was aware of how badly he wanted to grapple her to the door and rip her garments off. He wouldn’t have the patience to gently take off her garments.
“Why don’t you explain why you provoked me to the point where I let loose my flames to warm myself?” Ophelia inquired as she carefully removed the blade from his lips. Before she could put the dagger in her pocket, he seized it from her and smirked slyly in her direction.
“I didn’t anticipate you to display your stunning golden wings.”
Releasing her flames in anger, did nothing but warm her despite the fact that she wanted to burn down the arena.
Ophelia pursed her lips as her cheeks began to flush. “Your methods are risky.”
Nikolai grinned and pointed the dagger at her forehead saying, “Still… I didn’t want you to burn the entire arena,” but she didn’t flinch, and he grew pleased by her display of indifference to his action.
Ophelia braced herself and backed away from him gradually. “I find it surprising.” She made an effort to control her voice from trembling. She had labeled Nikolai as unpredictable. There were a thousand loose screws
in that brain of his.
Nikolai approached her and lowered the blade so that it was just an inch

from the tip of her tiny pointed nose. “Is that so?”
“You looked like you wanted to level the arena.” Finishing her sentence, Ophelia held her breath as he swiftly pointed the dagger at her lower lip.
“I did, didn’t I?” Pressing the icy steel on her lower lip, he questioned. His eyes twinkled, his lips curled into a sly smirk as her pink, luscious lips parted.
“Nik…”
