56 Good morning kiss
Pursing her lips, she tried to escape his gaze and concentrate on her food, which she ate with ease despite being famished. Nikolai had drawn her away from the archery range and into the dining room, which was empty except for them both. She felt his piercing eyes on her and had to hold her breath as she ate discreetly. 1
She didn’t know why, but she didn’t want to look him in the eyes. The kiss was the main reason, but she was also concerned about her own remarks
to Sasha.
Her purpose and motivation for remaining in Celestia was to end the war and protect her family from the wolves, but even Sasha knew she was
there because of Nikolai.
He was his parents‘ punishment….
Even though Ophelia had pretended not to care, she was unable to get
that out of her head.
She let out a sigh as she bit her lips and gently chewed the food in her mouth. Nikolai was right in front of her, watching her like a hawk yet she was thinking about him as if he wasn’t there. She wanted to know everything about him. Yes, she was that curious about him.
“Would you like more food?” Nikolai asked, his voice soothing and lulling like a lullaby. She smiled unconsciously as he added with a soft chuckle.
“You have consumed half the table,”
Ophelia raised her gaze to look at the assortment of foods in front of her. Despite the dining table’s size, she had already finished eating the dishes that were spread across half of it.
“Gods!” She exclaimed, reached for a nearby glass of water, and drank it

all. As soon as her eyes met with Nikolai’s, she snatched the crystal jug and drank all the water then wiped her lips with the napkin.
Nikolai smiled, his eyes twinkling in her direction. “What is bothering you,
Firestorm?”
Ophelia bit her lower lip.
“Despite the fact that you nearly shot an arrow into Sasha’s brain because of your unnecessary rage, which always happens when you’re hungry.. what are you bothered about?” Nikolai whispered, tapping his fingers on the table. He didn’t like how far away he was from her, but he still wanted to sit there and watch her eat as a spectator would watch a play.
“I don’t give a damn about that.” Ophelia murmured, again averting his eyes. “I’d like to see my brother.”
Nikolai pursed his lips like a child whose candy had been snatched from him. “You don’t have to see him; he’s alive, healthy, and being cared after by many servants.”
Ophelia returned her gaze to him. They narrowed at him as he blew air into his mouth. “Plus, I won’t appreciate it if you get distant from me if you see him.”
Ophelia was slightly taken aback by his words and for once, she actually found Nikolai to be endearing. She suppressed a laughter and nodded slowly. “I won’t see him.. for now,”
Giving her a nod, Nikolai got up from his chair and walked up to her. She watched as if she were in a daze as he approached her, his movements flowing with an effortless strength.
His face was only an inch away from hers when he bent down and grabbed the armrest of her chair. “Can I have a good morning kiss?”
Ophelia held her breath. “It’s not a good morning.”

Nikolai widened his eyes with absolute disappointment. “What? Why?!” Then he scowled and stood up straight. “Should I kill her? I really will.”
“No, No, No!” Ophelia’s eyes grew wider as he turned away, but she caught hold of his cloak, causing him to halt and turn to face her, his brow
furrowed in perplexity.
“So what is it then?”
“The.. I didn’t see you when I woke up.” She hesitantly admitted and Nikolai’s expression softened.
“Oh?” He bent and leaned his face close to hers. “Unfortunately, I am unable to offer a promise that will prevent that from happening.”
“What happened? Where were you?”
“I was called by elders who did nothing but nag me for killing those guards who touched you back in the tournament with their disgusting hands.” He spoke nonchalantly, as though saying and doing it were absolutely natural.
Ophelia went cold. “What?”
“I know right?” Nikolai shook his head, clicking his tongue.
Ophelia was at loss of words. Nikolai had actually killed those men who had been ordered by the Beta to hold her down when she wanted to save
Lev.
“That wasn’t necessary.. you..”
“Shhh.” Nikolai placed his finger on her bright pink lips that he wanted to kiss and suck so bad. “For you, anything is necessary.” He murmured staring intently into her widened eyes.
Ophelia could do nothing but squint at him. Would he continue killing like this? At this rate, he would be sent back to Nexus…

When she didn’t say anything to his words, he pulled his finger away from her lips and poked her cheek. “I’ll be busy from today onwards you’ll have to spend more time with Sasha.”
Ophelia clenched his cloak in her hands. “Why?”
“Crowned Alpha responsibilities, I have a lot of meetings,”
“I don’t need Sasha; I can take care of myself.” Ophelia made a light grimace.
“Of all of us, only Sasha is accountable. I have faith that she will ensure that you are out of any trouble that I am attempting to remove.” Nikolai muttered as he caressed her smooth skin with his thumb and cupped her long cheek. “I just want you; I don’t want any drama in my life.”
