“Okay, what do think she did after she walked off.” Kaia’s voice cut through the silence in my bedroom.
“Probably cried herself to sleep. Don’t care and most definitely do not give a fuck what she does after.”
“What if, you know, she goes to confront Landon about the whole bracelet stuff.” she was curled deeper into the bed, stealing half my blankets like she owned it.
“Again, Kaia. I do not care what she does about that,” I say, not even bothering to look up from my phone. “All that matters is that I was able to create a rift between them,” I carried on as my thumb swirls down my screen for the tenth time in the last minute.
Still nothing, again
“Maybe Landon will finally get it through that thick skull of his that Sophie isn’t somehow better than me.”
“Harsh.” She snorts before plopping herself up on one elbow, her hair spilling over her shoulder, “I must admit though, the girl is resilient.”
“Unfortunately..” I groaned.
“But..” she drags out, “have you ever thought that maybe Landon actually likes her? Just a thought though.”
This makes me finally look up at her and I slowly lowered my phone, giving her a look. “The hell..”
She shrugged. “It could be possible.”
“Am I that freaking ass replaceabale.”
“Delilah..”
“Seriously,” I sat up againt my headboard. “It takes him a month and couple of week to start feeling something for someone else? Is that how feeble his feelings are.”
She sighs, watching me carefully. “Okay, first of all, you also said you weren’t sure about your feeling for him, and you didn’t even know if you loved him or not.”
I paused for a second. “Now love is too big of a word to use, but there is no denying that I do care for him or for what we have.” My jaw tightened.
“I just don’t like the idea of being discarded like a piece on a cheeseboard, and definitely not for someone as Sophie fucking Delgado.” I put a hand over my chest in mock offense. “Please, that is an insult to me.”
“You’re insane.” She says, shaking her head, while a small smile dance at the corner of her lips.
“No, I’m being serious,” I scoff. “He can do better than her.”
My attention drops back to my phone again as I swipe down to refresh, and yet there was nothing, no text of call. No notification, nothing. Again.
“Landon and Sophie aside,” Kaia’s voice interrupts my internal suffering, causing me to look up. “Why have you been staring at you phone like your life depends on it?”
“What do you mean?” she gives me a deadpan stare, the kind that practically screamed ‘don’t play with me right now’ and I sighed again. “Fine,” I tossed my phone onto the bed beside me. “Not sure what’s up with Caelum lately.”
Her eyebrows shots up instantly at this. “What do you mean? I thought things were going smoothly with you guys.”

“Thought the same thing too,” I fight the urge not to roll my eyes as I add. “But it feels like he is avoiding me or something.”
“Okay, explain.” She sad up straighter.
“A day before yesterday, he had texted about us canceling our meeting for that day because he had a family issue or so.”
“That sounds normal.”
“Right, that was what I thought.” I subtly groan as I grabbed a pillow, hugging it my chest. “But then yesterday he texted the same thing.”
Kaia frowned as I carried on. “And today, I tried finding him at school.” There was a small silence that fell between us as replayed today’s memory in my head, me walking toward him and his eyes meeting mine, clearing seeing me, and then….
“He clearly saw me coming and went the other way.”
“Can he get more weirder than he already is.” She groans, shaking her head. “So you have no idea why he would want to avoid you.”
“If I knew, trust me I wouldn’t be here cracking my head, trying to figure it out.” I state, throwing my hands in the air.
The room falls silence for a moment or two, as Kaia studied me. “Something must have happened, that you probably thought little of. But given the type of person he is, he probably thought a thousand things.”
I tilted my head to the side as my thoughts immediately drifted to that day at the pool, and how he had asked I be his first kiss and asked that I kissed him.
And against my better judgment, the taste of his lips clouds my head and how soft they were against mine.
