Chapter 607
No matter how much Natalie protested, Joseph refused to take her into the ICU again. Worse still, he even demanded ten million dollars.
Natalie clenched her teeth in fury. She could barely resist the urge to slap him across the face.
She still had enough sense left. Even if she paid the ten million dollars, she wouldn’t be able to talk to Skylar anyway. Besides, she needed to get home soon. There would be hell to pay if Cora found out what she had been doing.
Meanwhile, Jenna had started her shift, but she was tied up in a meeting with Arthur and a consultation afterward. By the time she returned to the department, two hours had already passed.
She called Joseph into the office.
“Wrap up whatever you’re doing here as soon as possible. The medical sect could send you to Emerald Mountain for training at any time. Once you’re there, you won’t be able to leave for a while. They’ll also take your phone. All you’ll be allowed to do is read medical texts and practice. Nothing else,” she said.
“There’s nothing much for me to do here. Don’t worry about me. Just work at your own pace,” Joseph replied.
He was in a good mood. Unless some miracle happened, there was no way Skylar and Yara would recover anytime soon.
Jenna wanted to say more, but Joseph had covered his tracks well. He hadn’t caused any trouble in the department and still had his professional ethics as a doctor, so she figured there wasn’t much to worry about.
In the end, she still gave him plenty of freedom to do as he pleased. When he left the department claiming he was going back to sleep, she knew he actually had some matters to handle outside the hospital.
Although she was curious to know more, she kept it to herself.
While Joseph left the hospital to treat Mona, Jenna went to Yara’s ward.
After the routine checkup, she sent the caregiver away and studied Yara. Something about Yara had changed. Something about her state of mind felt peculiar, and the look in her eyes felt strangely familiar. For a moment, Jenna could even see a bit of herself in them.
Yara had fallen head over heels for the same man Jenna had-Joseph.
The difference was that Jenna was in love with the real Joseph, while Yara had only fallen for the man she knew as Henry. Once his identity came to light, Yara would be completely humiliated. That was the reason why Jenna wasn’t too worried or bothered by it.
Still, she had no intention of letting Yara off easy.
“You’re in the hospital, yet you’re still putting on makeup and spraying this much perfume. Really going all out
to look good for him, huh? Are you seriously planning to date him?” Jenna asked.
“Of course. I even want to marry him when the time is right,” Yara replied.
“What? You’re actually planning to marry him? Has he agreed to it?”

Jenna was stunned. Not only had Joseph somehow convinced Yara to consider marriage, but Yara, the proud daughter of the Zahn family, was actually willing to lower herself and marry someone like him. That was taking marrying down to a whole new level.
“Would he even dare refuse?” Yara asked lightly.
